Shawn was great! She listened and she had lots of suggestions in the time we spent together. She took time to write notes for my later reference. I like her practical approach. After she left I got to work implementing some of her ideas and was very pleased with the results.

About this pro

I listen. I hear what is being said, and what is not being said. Through active listening to what the client says and what their body language tells me, and reading between the lines, I offer my clients the opportunity to envision what their home can be. A finished product is truly a personal space that reflects the needs and wants of the home's occupants. The finished product is a home, not a house. I have two favorite things. The first is the moment that a tough design challenge comes into focus, and I have a solution. With both interior design projects and blueprint drafting projects, I am so fortunate to be a witness to my clients' joy and excitement the moment they see their new space completed. With a Design ReMix, they are typically coming home after being out of the house, or sticking around for the Staging, but not peeking. This is a very exciting moment, because all the work has been done for them, and they are free to explore the changes. With a Home Staging, I can either work with what the homeowner has or create a plan to bring in pieces for an unoccupied home for sale. It is so gratifying to hear them ooh and aah over what's been done! This is particularly true when I'm working with their furnishings, because it gives them an idea of what they can do with their own furnishings. When turning a set of plans turned into a 3-dimensional, real home, it is wonderful to see the home-owner light up as they see their dream home take shape and become a reality.

    Q & A

    • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Absolutely! Whether formal or informal, education is key to understanding current design trends, local code requirements, ups and downs of the real estate environment, and new products that might solve design challenges. I am a lifelong learner, and that dedication to education directly benefits my clients.
    • How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been designing homes since I was about nine years old. My mother showed me the pictures! Everything after that was just a matter of timing and life experiences.
    • What types of customers have you worked with?
4 Services over 2 disciplines: Interior design and blueprint drafting. DIY Consultations: I give you the instructions, and you do the work. For interior design and for home staging of a furnished home for sale. Design ReMix: For homeowners who want a fresh new look, I rearrange your furnishings for an updated, style appeal. Also available for furnished homes for sale. Home Staging: When selling your home, I will rearrange what you have to give the home focal points and an updated appeal. I work as a team with you and your Realtor on vacant homes for sale to create spaces that appeal to a broad range of buyers. House Plans: I offer design and drafting of house plans (blueprint sets) for the construction of custom homes, remodels, room additions, and small commercial projects, with a focus on sustainable construction techniques.
