Juan did a couple jobs for me at a couple jobs. And to this day I'm very happy with his work. Juan and his helper are easy going and always willing to help and give good advice on projects. Over all I had no problems with Juan always on time and always up front. I'll be glad to use him again for any tile job I have coming up!

Excellent tile install in our house. Hard working and considerate young man who I'll call for my tile and flooring work in the future. Highly recommended. Randy - home owner.

Hired on Thumbtack

I hired Juan Peavey for a tile laying job. After misrepresenting how far along he was in his job and how soon he would finish, he demanded payment up front. Then he suddenly became unavailable, first claiming to have a disabled vehicle, then a family emergency, then being in jail, all in the span of a week and all conveniently after payment had been rendered. When he went unresponsive after taking his tools from my jobsite, I gave him a warning that if I did not hear back from him, I would use the only leverage I had and post a negative review on thumbtack. He never replied. I posted a negative review. Despite days of radio silence, shortly after writing my review, he suddenly became communicative again and threatened me (in writing) and claimed that he had just come to get his tools so that he could finish another job and he would be coming back to finish mine but he got pulled over and was arrested. Even if all of that is true (and I don't believe it is), he had no business taking another job when he had already been paid for mine and mine was now a week overdue. As soon as he had money in his hand, it was just one excuse after another about why he never finished my job. I ended up having to pay someone else to finish the job, costing me extra money and giving Juan money for work he never did. Please do yourself a favor and do not hire Juan Peavey.

Hired Juan to remove tile and install new plank tile, after some scheduling issues he came and removed some of the existing tile but left a lot of thinset and the floor was badly pitted. He said he hadn't seen something like that before but was going to do the prep work on it to fix it (of course I would be paying him an hourly rate to fix it at $25 per hour + materials + rental fees) I had a licensed contractor come take a look for a second opinion and they explained to me why the floor did what it did and gave examples of other floors they had corrected when this type of work was done. I tried to arrange a time for Juan to do the prep work as his rates were very low but we had scheduled a Wednesday and he never showed telling me it would have to be a later date. We arranged a later date and he said he would need to rent a tool to grind down the thinset, a 5" hand held grinding wheel and a vacuum. Yet another expense I would need to cover, then he told me i would need to go and rent the equipment and he would use it and then return it. I decided to get yet another opinion and was shown the tools that should have been used. I chose to go with another contractor to finish the job surprisingly enough it was cheaper to have them knock out the job vs. what I would have had to pay Juan in tool rentals, hourly rates, and home depot supplies. My dealings with Tile Done With Style were not positive. In the end I was overcharged by Juan and more work was created. He is not a licensed contractor and some of his ideas on how to remedy the issues he created were not to code and ultimately would have left us with more expenses in the future.
