FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once it is established that my services are a good fit for what the client is looking for, I draft a service contract specifying logistical details such as time, place and duration. I also provide a copy of my insurance for my client, or the venue where the event will be held. From there we proceed with song selection details and the overall musical vibe. Client input is important at this stage, but I always leave the doors open for on-the-fly requests.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I actually started by playing live guitar and singing at weddings and events, and since I had a large music library I eventually started playing pre-recorded music as well. Eventually I was able to accumulate the proper equipment and started to practice DJing in 2006, and I've been DJing events ever since!
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Is lighting needed or required for the dance area? Some DJs charge an extra premium to add lights. Is there a certain mood you are aiming for as you plan your event? You want to make sure your DJ is on your side, conveying the atmosphere you want your guests to enjoy. DJing is not as easy as it seems, but at the same time it's WAY more fun than you can imagine.
