Ralph was wonderful! My 6th grader immediately took to him and is looking forward to more sessions in the coming weeks. My son really responds to Ralph’s kind demeanor, and their work rhythm is a perfect mix of math instruction, practical skills development, and confidence building. Would definitely recommend!

My daughter is a junior in high school who was very far behind in math and chemistry. She's ridiculously picky about her teachers, and in elementary school she dreaded tutoring sessions with the passion of a thousand suns. Ralph has been tutoring her since the end of her sophomore year and she has made more progress than all of the past 5 years combined. I'm floored that she has never once complained about attending their twice weekly sessions. Ralph is clearly invested in his work and is so encouraging, very responsive, and always sends a detailed summary of every single session. Highly recommended.

Few things are more satisfying to this teacher than watching his student evolve from previously frustrated to currently enlightened by a subject. Such is now the case for Natalie regarding her Integrated Math course. And I forsee greater progress in this class, as well as her Physics course. Why? She never cancels, and is never late for her lessons !

My daughter Isabella is in 5th grade and is struggling in Math. Luckily, I found her a tutor! She’s had a few sessions with Ralph, and I could see an improvement. After the first session, I asked Isabella what did she think of it and the tutor? She told me he is the most patient, smart and sweetest mathtutor!! I could see an improvement already. She does her homework on her own with no struggles. I will continue to work with Ralph. We are very happy and lucky to have found him!!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rates are usually offered in the range: $18 to $26 per hour, and correlates directly with the grade level for a given subject. Discounts are available for the 1st hour of the 1st lesson.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once hired via the Thumbtack protocol, the customer and I may have to exchange several texts before a conversation is possible. Then, we discuss what days and times are best, duration of a lesson, initial topics within the specific subject, confirmation of the rates, agree to a method of payment, and so forth.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I periodically tutored and was a teaching assistant (TA) while earning a BS in chemistry,and performed TA duties for three semesters as a doctoral candidate. More important, I have classroom taught or tutored, chemistry or math, for the past 14 years.
