Welcome! I have been teaching all types of percussion for over a decade to hundreds of students both online and in person and I can't wait to teach you, too. The studio is located in the beautiful Berkeley Hills, or we can do lessons remotely.

My 8-year-old son has been taking drumming lessons from Michael for 4 years. From the very beginning, I was incredibly impressed with how well he worked with such a young child. Michael's studio is very professional; you feel like you're in a recording studio!My son loves going to lessons. Michael makes it fun, but knows the right amount of creative freedom, seriousness, and play to incorporate into each lesson, and he adjusts accordingly depending on my son's shifting moods. My nine-year-old son has been taking drum lessons with Michael for about a year. The sessions are short, but dense. My son is learning how to read music, proper drumming technique and how to drum along to his favorite songs! He works really hard, but also enjoys himself. Michael is the most patient and kind teacher. His lessons are a wonderful combination of working hard and having fun. My sons progress has been slow, but steady. I feel like lessons with Michael are a great value, and I hope for my son to continue for years to come!

In every lesson he keeps me right at the edge of my comfort zone - always ensuring that I am attaining maximum progress but never pushing me into frustration or overwhelming me with inputs.
