I hired Max to work individually with my 2 daughters, ages 11 and 16. They felt very comfortable with him. Max was direct and to the point and was able to teach them quite a lot in a short amount of time. My daughters both have more confidence after just one session. Max works well with kids and he is able to maintain their attention. He also explained the importance of confidence and not projecting fear. Max was very accommodating and met us in a location that was convenient for us. He checked in with his ETA and was very professional. We hope to become regular students. We enthusiastically recommend Max for self defense training.

So great! Martin taught a self-defense class at our office with his colleague, Angelo. The class was informative, fun, and gave us all a basic understanding of some moves we could use if we ever had to defend ourselves. Martin answered all of our questions about different scenarios and gave clear, useful instructions. We had a blast and really enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend!
Where do I began, Jarrod is an amazing coach hands down! When I first started training with him I always felt I was going to fail, but he believe in me so I started to, he got me in the best shape of my life and ready for a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament in 4 months in the boys division. Jarrod is the definition of intensity he loves doing this, and that's what makes his coaching that much more beneficial cause all he want you to do is try, never give up and push your self. By training with him I never thought it would effect my thought process my emotions and my life in such a positive way. I wouldn't want to train with anyone else. I have such high respect for Jarrod! Nothing but amazing coaching he's a joy to be around and he knows what he's doing! Why wouldn't you want a instructor like him?
My three children have been training with Jay since they were five years old. Now that they are becoming teenagers, they look to him for physical training but also as a life coach. Jay teaches self discipline and respect as he coaches. My wife and I have been training with Jay for the last one year. We have trained with Jay for fitness, self defense, kickbox, and jujitsu. Since we enjoy working with him, we have also scheduled our own private family classes with him. I learn something new each class and have fun at the same time. I've been training with Mehran since my early childhood, and would say this is one of the best things I could have done in life. With the discipline, conditioning, exercise, mental fortitude, and overall confidence to take on any obstacles that come my way. I attended Cynthia Jolicoeur’s “Intro to Personal Defense Readiness” course in the Boston area over Labor Day week-end last year (9/4/16). I had no specific expectations other than to learn some new ideas and techniques. (I am a 5th degree black belt in the Ed Parker American Kenpo style, so brought that experience and mindset into the training.) I was quite pleased to receive such a thorough presentation on how the Blauer PDR system differs from martial arts training, along with a wealth of other information that is not typically provided in self-defense training, in particular the psychological and emotional components that accompany the physical aspect. Cynthia was extremely knowledgeable and well-versed in this material and answered most participant questions without referring to notes. The physical component was ably demonstrated by Cynthia and her “bad guy,” Dave Rood. All the participants had multiple opportunities to practice on them and on each other. The outdoor scenarios were excellent and provided realistic “hands on” experience of what to do (or not do) in the event of an unexpected attack. Cynthia’s own black belt karate experience is invaluable for helping participants who come from a martial arts background remember how the PDR system is different. Not that the martial arts experience is wrong, but that there are cases when it’s ineffective and doesn’t really prepare the martial artist mentally to respond appropriately to a sudden, violent attack. I highly recommend Cynthia’s course.
Not only is Debra a very knowledgeable instructor, she has gained my respect by demonstrating healthy dance/movement/training practices. At every class; she applies and provides injury prevention education with a mindfulness to each student's level. Most importantly she is engaging with a personality that inspires and encourages individual self-expression that can spark a fire of personal growth.
I've had one lesson with Cindy so far and loved it! She walked me through proper techniques and we did a variety of self-defense training so I was constantly challenged and learning. I can say that after one lesson I already feel much more prepared, but I'm looking forward to learning more and getting stronger in the process! I'd recommend Cindy to anyone who is looking for the perfect balance of self-defense lessons and working out!
I started working out with Joe in a gym at the University of Southern California. He was apart of the MFA program there and I heard he was some boxer guy. Little did I know that our work outs would not only challenge my athleticism (when I first started I could only jump rope for 30 seconds straight and I considered myself in great shape. Now I can jump for 30 minutes) but he also challenged me spiritually. Joe approaches boxing with a philosophy that can aid you in your every day life. Through our training he's helped me build a higher level of self value and confidence, not only as an artist but as a man. He's truly a gem to work with and I highly recommend you support his work. Plus it's really nice to hit something. You'll do plenty of that and feel really good. It's a great sweat and you don't really think about how hard you're working when working out.
Ray is great at communicating the basics in a way that is easy to remember. Sometimes trying to learn basic martial arts/self-defense can be intimidating but Ray created a very comfortable environment.

Having lived in Japan for 8 years does not make me a better instructor, in and of itself. Nor does having been a tournament champion. 35+ years doing Karate and several years doing other martial arts helps my level of understanding. Having a deeper technical knowledge than almost anyone else outside of Japan helps as well. But what really sets me apart is the passion that I have, not only for Karate-do as a way of life, but for teaching it in a way that helps students progress as quickly as they are capable of.

I am a Muay Thai instructor. I also have a black belt in karate, and I took many courses with SWAT units and bodyguard agencies. I am also a marathon runner and a triathlete. I am not a martial arts instructor who wants to be called master, sifu or some other honorific title; I'm just an easygoing coach with three legitimate, confirmable black belts that will work with you at whatever level you are. I offer a free needs analysis/first lesson and after that, I charge for eight lessons at a time. I strongly believe that no one should be denied this education and as such, I have committed to teaching these skills to young people in the public schools free of charge; just ask. Additionally, I offer sliding scale to those who simply can't afford to pay my normal fees. I also offer coaching for competitive events. I am a first-level national coach (and a committee member) for Sport Jujitsu; I can help you succeed in any tournament.
