I took djembe lessons with indigo we also worked on few other percussion instruments. Indigo is a very skilled and knowledgeable percussionist/drummer most importantly she is an amazing teacher. The lessons were just the perfect pace I enjoyed how I was getting out my comfort zone of drumming with indigo's direction and guidance. I loved how she showed me the application of rhythm and using metronome. I will be back for more lessons for sure Thank you Indigo. Highly recommended!!!!!!!

Simply put, Indigo is an amazing teacher. She has a deep knowledge of rhythm and emphasizes technique and quality. I already had some background in percussion so we were working at a more intermediate level (but I know she works with beginners as well) I’ve personally made real progress in the 8 weeks we’ve been working together on Djembe, and had a lot of fun in the process. Fair warning: She likely won’t let you get away with sloppy playing and will call you out on it.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I offer $10 off per lesson when you purchase a package of four lessons! If you have specific financial needs we can talk details, I'm flexible!

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

When working with a new student I like to get a sense for what draws them to drums in first place and then I will custom design a curriculum based off the students current interest. Along the way my custom curriculum will cover the technical aspects of drumming, basic music reading skills/comprehension, as well as keeping the passion alive via introducing the student to various styles of music, both similar and different to their initial interests in order to expand the students horizons and keep them constantly improving and developing multiple approaches to drumming.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Professional Experience: -STOMP - Royal Caribbean Cruises Productions - Street Drum Corps Orchestral Experience: Santa Monica College (Wind Ensemble & Percussion Ensemble) Marching Experience: Orange County Independent Indoor Drumline (WGI Bronze Medal 2012) Private Training: Pete Korpela (Lion King, Josh Groban) Sean Ritenauer (Something Rotten, NY Philharmonic) Alejandro Carvajal (Bata drumming)
