I hired Preferred Home Builders to remodel my kitchen. They not only did a superb job but also did it in the time they had quoted me, despite some last minute changes I requested. Great Job! I plan to use them again in the future.

This review is long overdue, we remodeled our kitchen and I can not express how happy we are with our decision to go with Preferred. Although Preferred was more expensive than the other bids we received, we realized that the price was worth the smooth and stress free process. I have heard so many stories of bad contractors and poor craftsmanship and we were not willing to go through a difficult time. The entire time we felt taken care of by Tamir and Alex. Tamir is the one who designed our kitchen and sat with us for many hours on every little detail. Alex was our project coordinator who worked directly with us and Tamir from start to finish. The crew was always on time, considerate, and clean which we really appreciated. Thank you Preferred for allowing us to enjoy our kitchen without any bumps along the way.

Working with Preferred Home Builders was a great decision and experience. We have been thinking about remodeling our kitchen for a few years now but have been hesitant as we wanted to save and do it exactly how we wanted instead of doing it with a different contractor at a lower price. We reached out to Preferred about 3 years ago, but we were not ready and did not feel comfortable spending yet. 3 years later we met with Tamir again and he came up with an even better vision for our kitchen. Tamir and Alex (our coordinator) were dedicated to our project. Throughout the entire process Tamir and Alex made it clear that their goal was for us to be happy not only with the final product, but with the process itself. Waiting a few years for this project made it that much better and we couldn’t be happier.

We did a large kitchen remodel and a room addition and are very disappointed with PHB(Preferred Home Builders). We would not recommend their services. There were on-going problems throughout the project. Keep in mind many of these issues start after you give them them most of your money. So many issues, here are just some of the problems:- They removed a wall and window from my home that was not supposed to be removed. Huge problem. - Once they built back the wall and the window they removed in error, they built the window opening the wrong size. (They offered to purchase the new window for me if I let them keep the window as they built it- in the incorrect size. I said no, the window was too small. We wanted the largest possible windows we could have and even then their design gave us small windows. After that the offer to pay for the window was withdrawn.) We had 2 more windows in the kitchen, they also built these window openings in the wrong size and we had to wait while they took time to re-do them. - I asked several times to have large kitchen windows, their answer was it is impossible. The original wall before the remodel was all windows, so it is possible. I'm upset that our windows were made the size the designer wanted them and not what we asked for. - Had another electrician come in because Preferred did not know how to install an electrical outlet in the bay window of kitchen. Once I sent them the video of my electrician showing them how to install it, they were able to install.- Once they start ripping your home open you are vulnerable. They use mishaps or "unforeseen items" to take advantage and charge extreme amounts of money to fix things. -On two occasions I told them not to perform work and they went ahead and did it anyway, citing their schedule needs. I was forced to pay them for this work at a price that was un-agreed upon. This illustrated that their needs are prioritized before that of the customer.- We had the house painted by another contractor as Preferred's quote to us was $7000.00 more.- Had our plumbing completed by another company because Preferred quote was $4,300.00 more. - No attention to detail - One side of our kitchen island has baseboard the other side does not. -They were very unorganized. Many miscommunications, they did not keep proper records of what we wanted or our design specifications.-They did not know how to properly measure countertops or wall space for materials. They told us we only needed 2 slabs for our countertops, then in the last 2 weeks of construction stated we needed to purchase an entire 3rd slab. They had us order $600.00 more baseboard then was needed and it had been painted so could not return. - Disregard for following a time-line. They pushed back the completion date several times. -During construction they would not give us a new completion date for over 2 weeks and during this time no one was working on our home. - Had to have several other contractors come provide their advise because several times Preferred told me they did not know what to do. -The house was pre-wired for cable TV. Preferred wanted to cut these cables. We told them not to cut them. They stated they do not know how to proceed without cutting them and asked me what they should do. I called another contractor for advise and spent a day and a half coming up with solutions. Then spent more of my time explaining to Preferred how to do their job without cutting the cables. In the end, they ended up ruining the hardwired cable that worked properly in our house just fine for the last 20 years. We had a cable company come in and they stated that a nail went through the cable. Preferred accepted no responsibility for damaging the cables. They stated "we are not a low voltage wire company". I know that but if you broke it, fix it. Now I will have to spend additional money to have someone else repair it. Design flaws - They installed a glass door that opens into and directly hits the sharp corner edge of the bench they installed. Major hazard. -Miscommunication. The office was very unorganized and had to call us numerous times to go over the same issues and in the end they still did not perform to the correct specifications. The bar countertop was made with the bar sink in the incorrect area of the counter. I told them due to their mistake I would only pay for half of the countertop. (I still had to pay for the labor costs.) They installed a ceiling fan and the electrical wiring was completed outside of the wall and ceiling. See photos. We are writing this not to punish PHB but to warn the community of what they are in for if doing business with this organization.
