FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, I take at least one photography class at the local community college every semester. The more you do something, the more practice you get at it, the more education you receive, the better you do, naturally. No matter what profession your in, there is always someone else who is just as good if not better than you at what you do. You have to constantly be learning and practicing, staying on top of your game. To master something, youve got to able to do that task without even thinking about it. I've been told that it takes 10,000 hours to master something. How true this is, I'm not sure, but it definetly takes a tremendous amount of time to master any skill. And the more skills you have, the better.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've always been a very creative person. I like to draw and paint. I play the piano and guitar, and I sing. I love writing poetry and music, so I suppose photography was a good fit for me. I hadn't thought about it much until I was 18. My sister and I were trying to get into acting and modeling. We didn't understand at the time the amount of work that goes into photography and the amount of talent a good photographer possessed. At the time, it just seem like everyone charged a lot of money for some photographs. But we did know that going cheap we never got the results we wanted. So I thought to myself, "I could do this, how hard could it be? All I need is a good camera and we'll be able to take our own pictures." I quickly found out that it's not the equipment that makes a great photo, though good equipment definitely helps. Over time I became intrigued by these amazing photographs and wanted to know how they were done and be able to take them myself. Since then, I've constantly taking classes and have just been shooting. There's always something new to learn in my opinion and so I'm always keeping myself educated in photographic processes.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common jobs I'm requested to do are family portraits and events (sporting events, anniversaries, birthdays, business events). Most of my family portrait clients request for outdoor portraits, though I do on occasion do traditional studio set ups. The most common sporting event I'm requested to photograph are children's baseball games. Now that spring and summer are here, I've been busy with more weddings and engagements.
