FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For Tax Preparation Services I usually charge a graduated flat rate governed by the complexity of the tax return.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Generally I like to have a Tax Interview where I meet the client at their home, business, or other meeting place at their convenience. Typically this involves a thorough review of the current and prior year(s) tax information and friendly inquires to see where we can find potential tax savings for the client.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Federally License Enrolled Agent (EA) which is the highest tax license recognized by the IRS and have a BA in Business-Economics with an Accounting Emphasis from UCSB. As a Federally Licensed Enrolled Agent (EA) I am required to obtain 72 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) by licensed providers every three years which averages to be 24 hours of Federal Tax Education a year. Most of us do more than the required 72 hours (every three years) and have subscriptions to monthly tax jounals, etc. For example, I have been a member of NATP (National Association of Tax Professionals) for over 10 years and receive monthly and quarterly publications as well as weekly emails in addition to online research.
