About
COACHING BOTH TENNIS AND PICKLEBALL:
I'm a former USPTA certified tennis professional who has been playing and competing since the age of 10. I have been coaching for over 25 years and hold an advanced degree and formal training in Psychology, with emphasis in Sports Competition. Furthermore, I have spent over ten years in secondary and post-secondary (academic) education. This unique combination of training and experience has allowed me great insight into how humans learn and develop new skills at varying stages in life.
Moreover, my scientific methodology prevents the development of "bad habits" and is individualized for each student's learning style and unique biomechanics.
For microanalysis, I use "OnForm," a highly-advanced video coaching app that has the ability to analyze, and manually repeat every movement of a tennis stroke, in addition to being able to create side-by-side comparative analysis. It's simply an amazing tool both for me as a coach, and for the student.
ABOUT PICKLEBALL: I discovered it in 2016, quickly mastered it and began coaching it in 2017. My pickleball instruction is based in tennis fundamentals because as most players know, the top pickleball players are all former tennis pros.
I pride myself on my level of service, so please see my link that is listed in my profile:

Coach Michael is a wonderful tennis coach. I’m a beginner and have been taking lessons with him for more than three months (2 times per week). He’s taught me a lot over a relatively short period of time and my strokes have really improved under his tutelage. I love that he explains the reasoning behind each action in the stroke and doesn’t just tell you to do it. He’s very thorough in his explanations and he even uses videos to analyze your technique, which allows for him to correct mistakes. In short, he’s very knowledgeable about tennis and I would definitely recommend him as a coach for anyone who wants to learn tennis/step up their game!

This is my first time learning tennis and coach Michael excels in being super professional and extremely advanced in teaching tennis. Coach Michael is very patient with beginners and works on your technique according to your level. He’s very punctual and is flexible with my schedule due to my work hours. He is by far one of the best coaches I had the pleasure of training under. I recommend him to beginning level and advanced levels.

Michael has provided me with a high level of instruction and my game has improved significantly. Michael is experienced, informed, engaging and has strong communication skills. Though I have had tennisinstruction from many other teachers over the past ten years, Michael is by far the best…

Michael is simply an amazing and passionate coach who communicates well. He also has a good sense of humor. He explains things in an easy to understand way and praises you for your performance. He often uses video and he was able to point out bad habits I didn’t even know I had. He also showed me my strokes in comparison videos with my idol, Venus Williams. One thing I have to say, unlike prior coaches I had, Michael didn’t keep feeding me balls to further deepen my bad habits. He addressed the problems right way and finally got me on the path to progress. I’m planning to make the Varsity team next season…

Over the past decade, I’ve worked with about a dozen coaches and I can say Michael is the best. He’s a what I call a coach’s coach. I can see how his decades of experience have made him not only an expert technician, but also an expert in being able to communicate things in a way that you can understand. Kinda reminds me of a psychology professor I had in college who always gave great examples of terms and concepts. Well, it’s no wonder as I discovered Michael’s also had experience as a psych professor. I highly recommend him!
