Introduction: Photography was not something I always dreamed of doing. Obtaining a degree in Engineering and working a Professional Civil Engineer for 10 years seemed far from "artistic" but somewhere along the way I picked up a camera. I was hooked. There's not a moment that goes by that makes me think I should be doing something else with my life. I love the connection to people that this career has brought me and I take pride in the images that I'm able to provide them. This is not only what I do, this is who I am. I'm a photographer, I'm proud of it, I cherish it, I respect it. I use the best equipment available on the market today but equipment doesn't mean a thing without having a human connection to the subject in front of my camera. Providing outstanding service and product to my clients will always be my priority.

Wonderful experience. I am the art director for the Missouri State University alumni magazine and I hired him to take some portraits of a Missouri State University alumna for a spotlight in our magazine. It is not always easy working as the art director from long-distance via email, but Derek was prompt and professional in all of his correspondence. The images we got to choose from were stunning and his post-production work really gave the image an amazing quality. Really, really beautiful.

This has allowed me to become experienced in a variety of different subject areas and different photographic conditions. I also pursue different personal projects each year to expand my photographic vision and expertise.
