They did a great job removing all the pet stains and did not try to sell me unneeded add-ons. We will definitely use them again.

Kevin was on time, pleasant and professional. He did a great job cleaning my sectional sofa, chair and area rugs; they look cleaner and brighter and have no pet odor. The area rugs lie on hardwood floors and Kevin was careful to prevent any fluid from getting on the wood floors. He's the sole owner and operator of the business, and I appreciate that he did not attempt to up-sell additional products or services to me, which some of the larger services tend to do. I will definitely hire Kevin again.

I was initially hesitant about using someone I found through the site. But after reading the profile and speaking with the owner on the phone, I was at ease. The response was prompt and I was not charged more than my estimate I recived over the phone like I had been with other carpet cleaners in the past. There were some tough stains on my cream colored carpet from my puppy and my 4 year old and also an odor that i was both embarrassed and irritated. I was thoroughly happy with the results of the service! From the way the carpet looked to the professionalism of the company. This is definitely a company I will be using again! I would recommend anyone that's looking to beautify their carpets to use Tykoon.

This husband and wife team did such a great job removing pet stains that had been sitting in there for far too long. They were very courteous and you could tell they were genuine and hard working. Our neighbors even complimented the freshness of their job. Will be seeking their work in the future when we get new furniture for their scotch guard upholstery protection.

We originally called on The Pros Cleaning Service to eradicate an odor problem in our garage. We had previously tried several methods to remove the odor, however we had no luck until we found the ongoing source. The smell of cat urine permeated the floor, walls, and house perimeter. Our garage was basically a litter box. Enter The Pros, who should be called The Heroes! Hector literally went above and beyond to eradicate this disgusting "cat"astrophe. The odor was successfully removed and cleaned from the garage. In addition, they deodorized and cleaned the laminate, tile, and carpet throughout the house. It was a pleasure working with Hector and George. Their desire to provide quality service that the customer is happy with is greatly appreciated.

Joe was 100% awesome! How I wish I'd taken before pix of my carpet; it looked like a Starbucks-full of people threw their lattes around in every room of my house and I exaggerate very little. Now? That carpet is CLEAN! Joe also cleaned the upholstery on my couches and chairs (excellent thrift store finds...aside from the funky dirty hair smell lol). They not only look brand new but smell fresh and clean, wonderfully so! Joe and Legacy have a customer for life in me!

Great service, got to my home on time definitely recommending to friends and family and well their competition can't beat the price. I love how my house smells since my puppy always has accidents. Didn't think they could remove all the spots and all the odor. I'm very satisfied.

I have utilized the services of Nico’s Carpet care for approximately 20 years. Over the years Nico has cleaned my furniture, carpet, and area rugs. Currently, I have 2 large dogs and 1 cat and anyone with animals will tell you that pets soil furniture, carpet and rugs faster than even heavy foot traffic. Nico has always done a fabulous job cleaning my furniture, carpet, and area rugs while removing any stains and pet odors. Not only does Nico clean my home area rugs but he also keeps my office carpet clean and looking like new. The carpet in my 1,000 square foot office gets daily oil and parking lot grease tracked all over the carpet from numerous delivery personal dropping off mail and other business packages. Whether it’s my home or office, Nico removes the stubborn stains and odors. When Nico cleans my rugs and carpets they look brand new. I would recommend Nico’s to anyone. He really provides a high quality service and the personnel are always helpful and polite. You can’t go wrong by calling Nico for you upholstery, carpet, and area rug cleaning needs.

Adrian and crew were very pleasant to work with, punctual, and very reasonably priced. Our carpets brightened up way beyond my expectations. Even the stairs look great! Pet stains and high traffic areas look great. The pet scrub did wonders to lift up embedded pet hair and scents. Carpets were pretty well dry within a few hours and had no strong chemical odor. We will definitely use Dream Clean again.

Surfside was only outfit that said they could get the stains out and DID IT. Perry even got down into the padding and sub-flooring. All others tried and failed. Only ones I use for homes and offices.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

What is upholstery cleaning?

From your carpets to your drapes to your furniture, all fabrics need to be cleaned. Cleaning upholstery, or the fabric on your furniture, removes the dirt and oils that are transferred to couches and chairs through regular use. Because furniture upholstery can be delicate and colors can fade easily, it’s often a good idea to let professional sofa cleaners handle the job. They’ll determine the type of fabric — usually cotton, linen, wool, suede or microfiber — and the appropriate method for cleaning it, either steam-cleaning or applying a dry-cleaning solvent. In general, cleaning an entire piece of furniture includes a pretreatment, cleaning, and neutralizing rinse to the body, plus removing and cleaning all cushions and cleaning all crevices.

An upholstery cleaner may clean the entire piece of furniture, on a regular schedule or by request, or do spot treatments to remove pet, food, drink, or oil and grease stains. Furniture can also be deodorized to remove the smell of pets or tobacco smoke. Furniture that’s used often, like that in your family room, should be cleaned once a year to keep it fresh and extend its life. Sofa cleaners often also offer repair services to mend tears in fabric or patch holes in leather.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

How much does it cost to clean a carpet?

Carpet cleaning costs vary depending on the type of cleaning, such as steam cleaning, and whether there are any stains that require special treatment. The main cost factors are the square footage of the carpet and the material it’s made from. The national average carpet cleaning price ranges from $100 to $130 for a typical suburban home, but steam cleaning prices start at an average of $120. In general, professional carpet cleaning ranges from an average of 20 cents to 50 cents per square foot, depending on where you live. Many companies have a minimum fee or room requirement — such as two rooms for an average of $40 each — and will charge more to clean carpeted stairs or a second floor. Finally, the carpet fiber type, density and pile will also affect the cost of cleaning; man-made fibers are stain-resistant and easier to clean, while wool carpeting is sensitive to water and requires more care.
