How much does it cost to clean a window?

The average cost to clean windows is between $165 to $180. Some companies might charge a flat rate per window, while others have a more adaptive pricing model. The number of window panes usually plays into the price, as individual panes take more time and materials to clean. The type of window (double-hung, casement, etc.) might also affect pricing. How do professionals clean windows?

Professionals use a basic solution of cleaning concentrate and water to get windows clean. They might use a scrubber to loosen grime and sun-baked debris off the glass, then begin working with a squeegee to make the glass perfectly clear. They will clean both inside and outside of the window. Professionals take extra care with individual divided panes to protect the edges.

Do you tip a window washer?

Whether you tip a window washer is up to you, but you can certainly give them a tip if they do a good job. This is a particularly nice gesture for workers who clean your windows under harsh conditions (e.g. hot weather). A tip between $5 and $20 is appreciated. If it’s a crew, you can throw in $5 or more per person, or just go with $20 if it’s a single person. Qualities of a job well done include timeliness, professionalism and friendliness.

What is included in window cleaning?

Typically, professional window cleaners will clean both the inside and outside of your windows, taking care to use different techniques as needed for different types of windows. They can remove hard water stains and perform deep cleans after new construction.

Window cleaners may charge extra to remove, install, and clean screens and storm windows. They may also charge more to clean windows that are high off the ground. They will also usually clean window tracks, and can alert you if there’s a problem with your windows or trim.

How do I prepare for window cleaning?

You can do some light cleaning yourself. For example, you can wipe your window blinds. Also, clear the area inside and outside of belongings that could get in the cleaner’s way. Perform an inspection of your shutters and window screens to see whether you’d like them cleaned as well.

What do professional window washers use to clean windows?

Professional window cleaners often use an assortment of tools and equipment, including squeegees, sponges, dry cloths, a ladder and a window cleaning solution.

How much is commercial window cleaning?

The national average cost to clean windows is $120-$170. Typically, window washing for commercial spaces costs less per window than residential window washing, but has a higher overall price because the greater number of windows. Commercial window cleaning companies may charge a standard rate per window — for example, $3 to clean the exterior only, with a higher rate of $4 or $5 to also clean the interior. There may be an additional charge, such as an extra $1 per window, for scrubbing off water stains or deep-cleaning window tracks. Double-hung windows require more labor and will therefore cost more to clean. Companies may charge a flat rate, such as $8 per double-hung window or $9 per French door, to account for the added work. Building height will play a factor in window washing costs. Standard cleaning for one- and two-story buildings will typically stay within the same range, but cleaning high-rise windows may entail special safety permits and equipment, which would increase costs. Your location will also affect window washing costs. Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost to do business will have lower window cleaning rates than large cities.

We had a terrible experience with Clear Choice Window Cleaning. They gave us a competitive quote of $400 to clean the interior and exterior windows plus our solar panels. Chris and Dawn from Clear Choice showed up at the appointed date and time and completed the work in 4 hours. They were polite and seemed to get the job done efficiently. But hours after they left, after the windows had dried, we found them to be extremely spotted. I have attached a picture of the windows after Clear Choice's work. We contacted them right away and told them about the problem. First they got defensive, claiming that they had previously told us the windows might not come out clean because they had not been washed for a long time and because the windows had wooden panes. I have all the text messages and emails between Clear Choice and us and they told us no such thing. Then they tried to upsell us, and then proclaimed they wanted to make us happy. It took many texts and calls to get Dawn to respond. She set a date to come out, but told us we had to go around the house and unhook all the screens. We also were required to put all of the screens back after she finished the service. A date and time were set and we went around the house and took care of the screens, but Dawn did not show up. She later contacted us and said she had car problems. So, we put all the screens back and then continued the texting and calling to get another date set. Six weeks after the original date of the cleaning, after numerous follow up text messages from me and slow responses from Clear Choice, Chris finally came out to the house for the stated purpose of fixing the problem. But at this point, things just got worse. Right off the bat Chris informed me that he was going to redo only a few windows although I had made clear to Dawn in writing that many if not most of the windows were spotted. He claimed he didn't have time to redo the entire house, so I asked him to just do what he could. He got agitated with me, and told me the windows were dirty because we didn't pay to clean the screens, which made no sense at all since in fact they had removed and cleaned the screens during the washing process. In addition, the screens don't touch the glass. Then he asked me if I wanted him to replace the window screens after he cleaned the windows. Yes, of course I wanted him to replace the screens. That sent him into a fit of anger, he told me that I was wasting his time, and he hastily packed up his gear, throwing his ladder around our driveway, and stormed off without touching a single window. His body language and speech were aggressive and hostile. At this point, we don't want someone with this temperament on our property. Later that day I texted Dawn and told her what happened. She said she was sorry that Chris got angry but that they didn't sign up to take off the screens and replace them after they cleaned the windows. So we had to hire another window company to come out and fix the poor work by Clear Choice, as while the windows were a bit cloudy before their work, after their work, they were difficult to see out of with all of the spots. The second company that we hired told me that Clear Choice's equipment wasn't properly cleaned, which is what likely resulted in the staining on our windows. They cleaned all of the windows at a lesser price in a few hours and they are all now perfectly clear. (after picture of the same window attached). Whatever the reason may have been, the fact is that Clear Choice left our windows dirty and in worse shape than before they cleaned them. In a final effort to allow Clear Choice to do the right thing, I asked Clear Choice for a partial refund to help defray the cost of our having to hire the second cleaning company to fix their work. Needless to say, no refund whatsoever was offered. So, in sum, we had a very disappointing experience with Clear Choice.
