FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to start with a video call or a quick, in-person meet-up to get to know each other and understand what you are really looking for. We will also discuss the logistics like the contract, date/time of the shoot, and potential locations. Afterwards, I will send a few tips on what to wear a couple days before the shoot. If you need help deciding, feel free to send me a photo of your outfit at least a day in advance and I can help you pick what works best for the location! Then, on the day of, we will jump straight to the fun part :)!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Though I've been taking pictures as a hobby for many years, I've only recently started studying photography in depth and man, there is a lot to learn! I've watched hours of online classes, studying the technical side, artistic side, and the business side of it. I think I spent a little over a whole month just watching videos, taking notes, and applying them for at least 8 hours a day (almost 7 days a week), and I'm still going. Though that may not equate to a degree in photography or journalism, much of being good at photography comes with practice, practice, and more practice (kiiind of like playing instruments)!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
In high school, my dad gifted me a point-and-shoot camera that looked like a DSLR. I loved it so much that I would take it to hangouts with friends, take photos of my cats, and every trip I'd take. Eventually, over the span of 8-10 years, that developed into taking photos for some events at college clubs and church, constantly bothering my housemate to go on a photoshoot, and then wanting to take it a bit more seriously and learn more. I became a scientist after college, but had to move away after marriage and quit my job. Though I naturally hate change, I thought this was the perfect opportunity for me to study photography more seriously and start serving others with it! So that brings me to today :)
