Introduction: Greetings! My name is Proctor and I have more than 35 years of experience in Hospitality and I've loved every minute of it. I honestly couldn't think of any . I've waited tables in neighborhood bars on Palm Beach, FL and in fine dining and in an upscale Colonial Tavern on a plantation in Colonial Williamsburg, VA. As a waiter at a trendy downtown eclectic Diner as well as a Yacht and Country Club in Norfolk, VA to Private Dining at San Francisco's celebrated Foreign Cinema. Bar Manager at Michelin starred restaurant Michael Mina at the Westin St. Francis, San Francisco. As the Wine Consultant for one of the most popular prime rib restaurants in Richmond, Va. with the largest wine account in the Commonwealth of Virginia to high-volume restaurant/bars on Fisherman's Wharf Pier 39, Bistro Boudin at the Wharf, allowing me the luxury of adapting my style of service to your desire. I can read the vibe of the party fast and adapt quickly. I also work for a large caterer based in San Francisco but they do larger parties, which I really enjoy. However, because I really love the more personable aspect of working with my clients through this platform. The large catering is amazing to watch from "backstage" and during service to see entire spaces transform into something completely new and magical. That's the cool technical aspect of catering I find fascinating. Why I love "personal catering" is, well, it's just FUN! It's more of a creative aspect for me still with that technical facet of how do I do my personal best to bring as small of a footprint as possible and deliver as big of a bang as I can. Catering in general is just in my blood. It's never the same thing, always with new faces, fantastic locations, gorgeous homes, random spots, constant new ideas that seem totally insane but, "just might work, let's check it out!". It's called "Cater Magic"! I prefer to limit my bar services parties under 50 because I prefer the more personal touch of smaller parties. That way you are going to get the best overall service experience possible! I'm one of those people who genuinely enjoys hospitality and take pride in my service. I don't have a particular "style" of cocktails or service, per se, because each client has their own individual particular style and I adapt to that. What are your ideas or visions? Let's run with them! I will ask you a lot of questions, some may seem odd, but there is a method to my madness. Recent parties that I have done are: --1920s Speakeasy Murder Mystery/Birthday party --BACKYARD LUAUS!!! --DIY Bloody Mary Brunch --Whiskey Tasting Party --The Battle of the Gin Cocktails! --UC Berkeley graduation --Wedding receptions --Apartment community weekly Wine Social Happy Hour --Corporate Happy Hours --Fundraiser for "Keep Tahoe Blue" --Backyard Cioppino Feast --Sweet 16 Boba Bar --Garden parties --WE SURVIVED COVID! --Halloween --Poker Night birthday --Celebrations of Life --1st/3rd birthday parties --Gender Reveal (Nothing blows up, I promise! HAHA!) --Diwali --21st birthday --Housewarming --Backyard BBQs --Sunday Brunch --Birthdays in general! --Holiday parties --the list is as endless as your imagination (with some help from me, of course) I don't have a 'rolodex of cocktails' that I use generically for each client, rather preferring to personally cull cocktails that are classic or exotic for you or to totally create libations that are unique to you and the theme of your party. Not all gatherings or parties need a theme, I can do wonders with an "essential bar" as well. I enjoy going above and beyond to ensure that your event is a success and that you have time to enjoy yourself and your guests. I am very flexible and can usually stay extra hours or help out with other tasks. I am extremely respectful of my clients' right to privacy. I do not photograph anything inside or outside of your home except for a few photos of the bar set-up alone to use online, with your permission, of course. I have signed many Nondisclosure Agreements and still respect all NDAs that I have signed and will be willing to sign one for you. I hold a certificate from the International Court of Master Sommeliers, am a member of the American Bartenders Guild and was a Judge for the Governor's Cup (Virginia State Wine Competition). I can also assist with service, busing. I have my valid CA Food Handler's card and current TIPs card (Alcohol safety required by the state). When a bar is needed there is a 5 hour minimum at $400 and extra hours are available at $125/hour. Don't forget to get the party going with 200 12 oz recyclable clear plastic cups and approximately 160 lbs. of ice are available for a $150 fee for up to 50 guests! Avoid the last minute ice run! When a bar is already provided my hourly fee is $65 plus a tip jar or $78 (20% gratuity at $13/hour) with gratuity included and no tip jar. ***At present I do not carry a Certificate of Insurance (COI)***

Christopher was absolutely awesome! We hosted a 1920s Speakeasy Murder Mystery party and hired Christopher to bartend. He was wonderful! He provided cocktail recommendations for the era, made delicious drinks and even dressed in period appropriate attire. Christopher went above and beyond and I would highly recommend his services. He was also very easy to communicate with and super responsive. Thank you for the great work, Christopher!!

Proctor was fantastic. Arrived early, stepped into a fairly chaotic and not yet ready environment! He was calm cool and collected, handled everything, made the sauces we had forgotten to buy, arranged the food, served, picked up, figured things out without needing to ask. He was a delight and would hire him again without hesitation!

Details: Special event / party • Fewer than 50 guests • Pass hors d'oeuvres / serve food • Clear / bus plates • Setup / cleanup • Wash / stack dishes

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

All prices listed online are merely a base price and not a guaranteed price until a final price is agreed upon by both parties.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

First of all I like to get to know about the new client a bit. What's the event? Who's going to be there? What type of bar, etc? But I want you to tell me what you want before I ask any questions. What's going on in your head, or did you have this event in 2019, or is it a special day? Those types of things that are in your heart and your head that need to get out and blossom into a great party! Tell em what they are and then I'll ask a bunch of questions, but trust me, there really is a method to madness! Once I get the deposit and we get the idea of your party solid then I'll send you a selection of cocktails to choose from. After you've made your selection I'll send you a shopping list. I'll stay in touch with you throughout the entire journey either through text, email, WhatsApp or phone calls en lieu of corresponding on here. It makes things more efficient for us and don't worry, Thumbtack already knows, and they're cool with it. ;-) You supply all alcohol, beer, wine, mixers/juices and glassware. (I can assist with ordering the glasses.) For a full bar set-up here is what I will supply: --One 8' table; one 4' table --Drapes (black with black/burgundy/gold overlays) --Coolers/ice/9 oz/12 oz clear recyclable cups --Garnishes --Bitters/homemade syrups --Decor --Bluetooth wireless speakers --Bartending services --Cocktail list consultation and creation --Room maintenance --I'll transfer the bar with as much garnish, etc that I can leave to another location in your home/office/wherever so that the party can carry on! Extra hours are available. I will do my best to check on you throughout the evening and usually it's by silent gestures or quick and quiet conversations. I don't like to interrupt your party. I'm a pretty soft spoken man but I have a loud laugh, in fact, my Assistant GM at Michael Mina once said to me that "...your laugh brings life to the bar." *I do not serve minors nor operate cash bars. *I do not provide alcohol.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

***I AM TIPs/RBS CERTIFIED; #5337560; VALID 05/02/2020-.5/02/2023*** I have my Certificate from the International Court of Master Sommeliers. Throughout my 15 years as a wine buyer and consultant for a restaurant and a combination restaurant and catering company I sublimed seven wine lists for the Wine Spectator Wine Awards Program. All seven were awarded Awards of Excellence. In 1998 I was a Judge for the Governor's Cup which is the Commonwealth of Virginia's Wine Competition. The following year in 1999 my wine list received the Best Wine List in Virginia. I was later written up in the "Virginia Wine Gazette" noted for my support of the Virginia wine industry. --ServSafe Certified Bartender I am also trained and certified by ServSafe®, a rigorous food and beverage safety training and certification program administered by the National Restaurant Association.
