Type of work
Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I am both a writer and an editor, as well as a desktop publisher. On the editorial side, I work with creative, academic, business, and personal writing. Since I almost always work with the author at my side, either literally or via the internet, there is no way that I can violate your voice or intentions (a frequent complaint I hear from clients who work with other editors first). On the writing side, I am a co-author of GREAT, which won the Academy Award for short animated film. I have also written the authorized stage adaptation of THE CLOWN, a novel by Heinrich Böll, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1972. The play will be published and produced in London during the coming year. As a desktop publisher, I can format your book to look as professional as any in the bookstores. I love working with a variety of authors, with interests as diverse as anything you can find on Google or in the Encyclopædia Britannica.

I met Paul online by responding to his ad on Craigslist, and after interviewing him on the phone, immediately knew I would choose him as my editor. It took a year for me to be ready before I became his client. But once I completed my own final draft, I really enjoyed working with Paul on my project, and would recommend him to anyone who wants to hire a creative and brilliant editor who charges fair rates and is generous with his suggestions and advice. Paul and I are located on opposite coasts, but it worked out well because he is technically savvy enough to be able to work with me online regardless of distance. In this business, as in any other, honesty is the most important attribute. In the end, you want only two things from an editor: (1) your material to look polished; and (2) your piggy bank to be intact. There was no question about the first point, or I would have chosen a different editor. With regard to the second point, the electronic timer that ran on Paul's screen made his billing practice totally transparent. Once I was happy with the literary results, I went on to self-publish my book of Fairy Tales, check it out: http://www.amazon.com/There-Was-Trickster-Tales-ebook/dp/B00AMSLUKE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1365425503&sr=8-1&keywords=there+was+and+there+was+not+trickster

I originally found Paul on Craigslist when I needed an editor for a short business article I had written. It was immediately clear to me that he would be the perfect editor for a book I was writing about my connections to the world of popular music (The Grateful Dead, Willie Nelson, etc.). As soon as the article was finished, Paul and I began work on the book, which we completed recently: CALIFORNIA SLIM: THE MUSIC, THE MAGIC, AND THE MADNESS. It has a 5-star ranking on Amazon, and is a work that I can be proud of for the rest of my life. Paul challenged me as a writer, encouraging me to connect more directly and personally with my readers. His suggestions and criticisms were clear, wise, and eye-opening. I thank him for his intelligence, quiet dignity, and generosity of spirit. Throughout the process, he maintained a great sense of humor and clarity of direction—no matter what. Thank you, Paul, for your talent and your time. Every writer needs a Paul Weisser.
