Kerry changed my son's life, and I don't say that lightly.
When my son Eli finished third grade, he could not read. Writing was a struggle, and even basic math was hard for him. His school diagnosed him with autism, dyslexia, and ADHD and recommended a professional evaluation. We paid $3,850 for a two-day evaluation at a specialized center, which confirmed the same diagnoses. From there we enrolled him in a learning center that specialized in kids with learning disabilities, at $150 per session, for several months. He got absolutely nowhere. Looking back, it was a complete misrepresentation of what my child actually needed.
Then we found Kerry, and everything changed.
Kerry didn't use any special technique or program. She simply sat down with my son and taught him, drawing on years of real experience. The specialized center had all their methods and systems, and none of it worked. Kerry's approach was to genuinely care about him, build a real relationship, and teach him as a person. That is what worked. And in my honest opinion, that is what my son needed all along.
Just over a year later, Eli reads and writes fluently. He is doing great in math. But the biggest change is his confidence. Because Kerry truly cares for him and built such a good relationship with him, learning became enjoyable and even fun. He is engaged, curious, and joyful in his lessons. That confidence is what unlocked everything.
Kerry comes to our home four times a week. She has been 100% reliable, always on time, and usually early, often waiting in her car so she's ready right at the start. She is respectful in every way. Every week she sends us an email with an update on his progress, what he's been learning, her goals for him, where he's struggling, and homework and things we can work on with him at home. As a parent, that communication means the world.
Kerry is not just his teacher. She is a friend to him, and someone who genuinely cares about him. As I write this, we are about to leave on a two-week trip, and my son is sad because he won't get to see Kerry. That tells you everything.
If your child is struggling, or has been given labels that make you feel like there's no path forward, I cannot recommend Kerry highly enough. A good teacher who truly cares solved what two institutions and thousands of dollars could not. She has been a real blessing to our family.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have a range in hourly rate from $55 - 70 per hour for tutoring. I will also often take on an interesting writing project or will work on a resume for a flat fee which can vary from $150 - 500 or more, depending upon how much collaboration there is and how much time is needed.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We need to spend time at first talking about needs, expectations, goals, and outcomes. I want to get into the details --- what the student's books look like, where the student is most comfortable studying, and what kind of tools they use, such as pencils or ink, lined or unlined paper, and so on. I like to know what other kinds of activity a student enjoys. All these details create a picture for me to begin to build a strategy for moving the student forward.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am very well-educated, having attended the best of both public and private schools. I have trained in college classrooms, as well as kindergartens and adult-learning environments. From this, I have developed a keen sense of how people learn and what helps that process.
