Board and train at a facility
The Board & Train program was amazing. Worked individually with the dogs and owners and it was greatly appreciated.May 4, 2020
The quality of Training our dogs received from Cam and Kerianne was top notch. They provided us and the dogs with skills that made them better pets and us better leaders. They provide a large amount of leadership and training with each board and train making this investment significantly valuable. We have had several family dogs go through the program and are beyond thrilled with the results. We now have a better rounded and understood dogs. It removed all chaos and uncertainty from our home as we now had the tools, skills and knowledge to maintain calm and confident dogs.Apr 12, 2020
We adopted Kobe right before Thanksgiving and soon found out that he needed a lot of guidance and training (much more than what my husband and I were capable of providing at the time). He was pushy, stubborn and didn't play by the rules. He would jump at everyone & everything, lunge at other dogs, he was my shadow (he even jumped out of a second story window to find us). Hope2k9 to the rescue...we met with Cam and Kerianne and immediately knew we needed to enroll Kobe in their 3 week board and train program. It was truly an investment (both financially and mentally) but one that we couldn't ignore and one that ended up being the best decision we ever could have made. Kobe has been home for just over 2 weeks now and he is in a much better place than I think he's ever been. His walks are so much easier & he is making better decisions (with our guidance, of course). Sometimes we forget he's here because he is so much more calm now. Does he still have his impulses, yep; but now we have the necessary tools to help him live his best life. Thanks Kerianne Benkosky for your commitment to our little guy. We are so appreciative!May 3, 2020
I adopted a rescued dog that hadn’t been properly socialized to people or dogs as a puppy. She was terrified of everyone but me and I didn’t know how to teach her to be more confident in new situations. I was lucky to find Hope2K9. After a 3 week board and train, my dog had learned to trust, as well as learning basic obedience, and I learned how to provide her with the structure she needed to feel safe and build her confidence. The Hope2K9 team are outstanding dog trainers who (1) really understand dogs, (2) know how to train dogs that have issues and (3) who teach dog owners how to effectively manage those issues. Finding Hope2K9 was the best thing to happen for me and my very sweet girl.May 3, 2020
My adorable, but oh-so-stubborn dachshund was trained with H2K9 Board and Train. He and I both learned how to manage his impulsivity, anxiety, and togetherness addiction. Not only does your dog get trained with H2K9, but you, the owner, will too - all included as part of the program. Speaking of which...monthly (FREE) classes are offered for the lifetime of your dog, once your dog has finished Board and Train. The class is invaluable for keeping your and your dog's skills sharp. The class is also open to community members, pending approval. (There must be available space in the class, for example). It's a great way to get training tips, and familiarize yourself and your dog with H2K9 and their trainers. Finally.....Last year I adopted a dog from the Foundation's rescue program. She came preloaded with a thorough veterinary exam and full Board and Train training. She has been the perfect addition to my home, blending beautifully with my dachshund. Here's a photo of my crew practicing calm in place at one of the classes:May 2, 2020
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? At Hope2K9 Foundation we provide personalized training and behavior modification services through one-on-one sessions or Board & Train programs, as well as group classes and pack walks. We are located in Escondido, California. Our training methods are balanced and include both positive reinforcement as well as structure, boundaries, and remote collar training which allows for calm, clear communication of unwanted behavior. We are specialist in e collar training, and provide tools to meet your dog where they're at, as well as to empower owner to have the simplest and most consistent means of maintaining good behavior once their dog is at home.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?My passion for dog training was born out of the desire to solve behavioral issues in my very first rescue Boxer, 17 years ago. I was just an average dog owner struggling to understand how to establish a calm and balanced relationship with my dog, but feeling frustrated and unsure about how to make heads or tails of all the conflicting information out there. I know firsthand what it feels like to have a stressful, discouraging, and even dangerous life with your dog. The great thing is, there are solutions for you!
- What types of customers have you worked with? With my background in clicker work, agility, classic conditioning, and balanced, 'state of mind' training, I have worked with dozens of foster dogs and personal training clients alike, to bring about peace, reliability, and fun for both dog and handler. Many of these dogs have truly been at their worst, but through our one-on-one or Board & Train services, they have become enjoyable family pets, who no longer create chaos and frustration for their owners.
