I am very detail oriented, and take a minimalist approach to my setups, which keeps them clean and non-invasive. This is especially important when your special event is being photographed. I am a gear head and keep all of my equipment new, swapping out most of my gear once it hits the 3 year mark. I have extensive, formal training in audio, lighting, electronics, and event production. Playing music for people's listening enjoyment. There are few greater jobs than that, in my opinion.

Big thumbs up for DJ Von Woo. If you want a great party and peace of mind it's gonna get done right, go with him. Von Woo deejayed my wedding and was WONDERFUL to work with. Unlike other DJ's I interviewed, I felt Von really cared about making the wedding personal and customizing the music to our tastes. He was professional, responded to emails quickly, and very attentive to details. Last but certainly not least - he has damn good taste in music. I was most impressed with Von's attentiveness to details. He doesn't just throw together a generix mix, he takes the time to pre-plan - to understand the crowd, the events of the day, and the timing so he can customize the perfect track. I liked that he was organized and hit every track we requested, but also introduced several fresh tunes that got people in the mood. (he even played some fun, kitchy, game show music when we had our ice-breakers - LOVED!) Our guests loved that we didn't play cliched wedding tracks. It felt more like a hip event than a wedding - SCORE! Being a first-time bride and unsure what to expect, Von was so sweet to guide me on what to expect, considerations, and offered helpful suggestions. He was also great about working directly with the restaurant on set-up logistics - it was one less thing to worry about and much appreciated. Would definitely work with him again!!

We'd give DJ Von more stars if we could! He did a fantastic job with setting up sound systems for multiple sites, running the reception, and getting people on the dance floor. He was very easy to work with, and was willing to play whatever we wanted. The wedding was on a Friday night, but even though people were tired his music kept the dance floor moving. He did a great job as an MC as well, making just the right announcements so that our guests were aware of what was happening, but he didn't go overboard with talking or jokes, which we really appreciated. He was very professional and friendly throughout the night.

DJ Von Woo is amazing. There really aren't words to describe how satisfied my wife and I were with his performance at our wedding, not to mention how much our guests loved him too. At the end of the night, we had guests going up to him and begging him to stay longer. He read the crowd perfectly, he literally had every person on the dance floor at one point or another, and there was not a time that the floor was empty the entire night. He kept the party going, transitioned into scheduled events like cake cutting, toasts, etc., flawlessly, and even gave some great advice on things to do in the area during our honeymoon. I don't think we could have asked for more; hands down the best entertainer I've ever worked with.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taken years of classes in radio broadcasting, MIDI, fundamentals of sound, music theory, audio engineering, production, keyboards, Pro Tools, Ableton, Logic, Reason, and many other related subjects. Although I am not currently spending time in a classroom, I'm constantly keeping myself up to date on gear and music. It's my hobby and my passion.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
It chose me. I've done it as a hobby for most of my life. I had the fortune of working in the nightlife industry in San Francisco at an early age, and made lots of contacts who would later hire me as a DJ. Before I knew it I was overwhelmed with gigs, and was able to quit my day job to pursue this full time.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Private events, a fair amount of which require eclectic music.
