Hired on Thumbtack

The Official Stina D is downright amazing! She was incredibly easy to work with, which was great because I had crazy wedding brain and she never made me feel guilty or badly if I didn't get back to her right away. On top of that, she came to my home for the make-up trial which was so helpful and was very informative about what she was doing. On the day of, she arrived on time, with a great attitude, and took direction well. She rocked! I would hire her again and I'd refer her in a heartbeat (and have)! Thank you for doing my makeup, it looked absolutely gorgeous and for the little "thank you" bag.

Hired on Thumbtack

Tina was great! Out of all the make up artists that responded to my inquiry, she to me seemed like the most experienced and skilled make up artist that I was looking for. She was professional and knowledgeable in the field of make up. She brought all her make up, which she organized, laid and set out on her table that she had brought. Overall, she did an amazing job! Not only did she make me look beautiful, but I also felt beautiful and confident, ready for my maternity shoot and baby shower! Tina is amazing!

Tina was very professional and my daughter looked beautiful for her prom. Would suggest more lipstick options. I would definitely book her again and soon for my daughters graduation pictures! Her prices were very reasonable! I would post a pic but I don't see an option for that.

Hired on Thumbtack

This review is very late, but now that I am using Thumbtack again, I wanted to make sure others knew about my experience. I was throwing a very elaborate 21st birthday with about 100 people at my house (bartender, music, full catering, etc. and I even had family flying into town for this) and wanted to hire a makeup artist to do my makeup that day, especially since I was having a photographer there to capture everything. Tina contacted me first, after I put a request up on Thumbtack, stating that she would love to be my makeup artist and I was very impressed with her page, and saw that she had great reviews previously, so I decided to continue with hiring her. We talked via email about all the details, and committed to her being my makeup artist for my birthday bash an entire month in advanced. She was very professional, emailed me back promptly, and explained exactly what her services would entail. Her pricing of $85 was worth it to me to feel beautiful on such a special day, especially because she was coming to my home to do it. I was extremely excited to say the least. As we got closer to my party, she even emailed me again 2 days prior (the Thursday before) stating, "I just wanted to check in and make sure we were still on for Saturday." I had a lot going on with this party and was initially very impressed with how diligent she was and professional in making sure that we were still on, and I appreciated the friendly reminder. I then confirmed that I still required her services, and she emailed me back again saying she would see me on that Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the last of the professionalism. She EMAILS me the MORNING of my party (does not even call), LESS THAN 2 HOURS before she was supposed to arrive at my house stating that she had to cancel because she wasn't feeling well. Now, I'm not trying to be unsympathetic if she TRULY was THAT sick, but if she was that sick, then she could have given me 24 hours notice (at the very least) so that I could have figured out an alternative, just as I would if I was cancelling any appointment. To say I was beyond upset and pissed is an understatement, as it was 8AM on the day of my party and there was no way any place would even be open to do my makeup. And because she had just confirmed with me 2 days prior, I didn't have a backup plan. Not only was I scrambling, but now I had to find someone to be at the house to greet the catering crew, DJ, bartender, etc. because now I had to drive around to try and find another makeup artist, literally last minute. I was super upset and emailed back basically saying that it would have been nice to know earlier than 1.5 hours before she was supposed to arrive on the day of my event. She tried telling me that to make up for it she would "only charge me $60" for a future event (instead of $85), but why would I consider hiring her again when she unfortunately doesn't seem to be reliable? Now, I understand this wasn't my wedding or something, but I definitely spent a lot of time and money on this party, which was intended to be a very big family / family friends / friend affair, and I feel I am rightfully upset to have had that happen the morning of my event. I was a client who hired her, and ended up having her cancel on me just hours before people were due to arrive at my house. I tried running around that morning, even driving 20 minutes to the mall, but of course, there wasn't anything open. It's unfortunate because the pictures of her work look great, but I would NEVER hire her again, nor would I recommend her to anyone. She is obviously unreliable and I do not think she handled the situation professionally. If she encounters a similar issue in the future, I recommend giving a client at least 24 hour notice so they MIGHT have a chance to figure out a plan B.

Taralyn - I wanted to apologize for what happened in the past. I know this was a few years ago but this is my first time seeing it. I completely understand where you are coming from and appreciate your honest feedback. I can't change what happened but will always appreciate your business in the future.
