Irina is professional, trustworthy and responsible. I would recommend her to anyone who has difficulties in business and immigration area. Irina handled my H1B case easily. It was a bit pricy ($3k flat fee + 1k for short time for preparation) - but very well done. Thanks, Irina!

last year I was eligible to apply for the green card through marriage. I consulted a few lawyers and their opinions varied on the success of my case. Peter was the one that gives me a very positive answers that my case is doable. I obtained my green card within 5-6 months without any issues; I credited to Peter as a brilliant immigration lawyer it is due to his extensive knowledge in immigration that made the entire experience stress free. I have no hesitation to recommending Peter to represent for you as a immigration lawyer. VCS

“I was in the stadium parking lot after the 49er game sitting in my truck with my wife when a man approached my vehicle yelling that I bumped his rear passenger corner bumper. I explained to the man I was not driving and the truck was parked and not on, we began to yell and it got intense very fast, the security showed up during our yelling and soon after the police they separated us and gave me a sobriety balance exam that I failed, I was asked some questions and arrested and placed into custody. My blood was withdrawn for an alcohol test at the police station in a holding room by a lady then I sat around for 8 hours and released. At the arraignment hearing I pled not guilty and was told to show up in a week for trial arrangements. I sat in my car and began to research DUI lawyers and reading reviews after narrowing my search to about five lawyers I decided on my gut instinct and chose Aaron Bortel. It took eight months for the trial but during that time he communicated with me and kept me up to date with the progressions of the case and made all the DMV arrangements and extensions for me. In the end the case was sent back to the D.A office for a second review and they refused to dismiss the case and I did not want to go through the whole thing again so we agreed to take a lesser charge and ended up pleading guilty to a “dry wreck less” which doesn’t count as a prior and a lot less cheaper than DUI fees and no classes, no community service, no ignition device and no suspended license, he won my DMV hearing that I never had to attend. I went with my instincts and i got a chance to fight in court against the system and won. Thank you Aaron.”

My Son and I have a current civil lawsuit/litigation ongoing in Yuma AZ with a scrupulous con artist. Joseph LaCome has joined us in aiding in the pursuit of legal action against this person. Joseph has aided us in a pro se action against the defendant. Without Joseph We would of not gotten as far as we have. His knowledge of corporate and business law to include mining is impeccable! Joe LaCome has given us the confidence to move forward. We have the utmost confidence in his abilities to see it through to the end with a positive outcome. There have not been many if any lawyers I trusted or liked but Joseph LaCome is the exception! We are glad to have him as our attorney and look forward to a very positive and optimistic outcome thanks to his never ending commitment to getting the job done and with his help a nice well deserved financial outcome.

The lawyers made the difficult loss of my mother easier. We wanted to seek justice but we also wanted the time to grieve and reflect. Mr. Cohen made all of those things possible with very little time or effort from me and my brothers. We could not be more pleased with the outcome and are proud to have fought for justice for my mom.

David got the job done at a very reasonable price. I wish I had started with him earlier since getting through the court system is not so easy and using a lawyer for an uncontested divorce is not necessary.

Mr Larson Helped me with a very difficult legal situation I was in. His expertise was excellent and he knew how to maneuver around the legal system. He is a Stan up Lawyer. He also does not nickel and dime you to death on his fees. Many Lawyers charge for every conversation and text and email. John Did not. He was thorough, professional and kept me on course. John is Busy but he stayed on top of my case. I recommend John Highly.

Personal injury lawyers get a bad rap, but these ones are definitely an exception to the bad stereotypes I'd always heard about. They fought really hard against the insurance company and kept going back over and over again until I got the money that the insurance company should have paid me in the first place.

I've used Thumbtack to find a plumber, an electrician, but never a personal injury lawyer. Turns out, Thumbtack works for legal matters too. I got a wide range of lawyers to choose from and chose this firm because they best met my needs.

If there were 1/2 stars I would have given a 4.5. Tim is deceptively good! He is proactive and leverages his people and negotiating skills for favorable results. If you are looking for results oriented counsel he is solid. His delivery and interaction is quirky but he drives to resolution.

This law firm happens to be in the building next to where I work. Someone had dropped off leaflets for their firm at my office and I always kept their card in my Rolodex never knowing if I'd need it. I finally did need a personal injury lawyer and I called them. I'm so glad I did because they put me at ease and were able to take care of nearly everything related to my car accident. Really nice lawyers.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does an immigration attorney do?

Immigration lawyers help their clients through all phases of the immigration process. Experts on immigration law, they are legally qualified to represent U.S. citizens, permanent residents or undocumented immigrants. Immigration lawyers also provide assistance to visitors here on student, work or travel visas, and can represent clients who may have an expired visa or who have overstayed their visa.

You can hire an immigration lawyer to assist you with petitioning for renewing a permanent resident or green card, navigating the naturalization process, submitting an employee-based petition for a work visa, filing a petition for a family member, or representing you or a loved one who is facing detention or deportation, as well as replacing, extending or changing a current visa, green card or work permit. The immigration process is highly complex, with multiple hearings, paperwork and requirements. Hiring a legal expert to represent you can help you make your best effort in the process. When researching immigration lawyers, it is very important to verify their qualifications and find a reputable attorney. Read reviews and verify that the immigration lawyer is licensed by your state before paying any fees.

How do you find a good real estate lawyer?

If buying or selling property feels overwhelming and the thought of finding a good real estate lawyer seems daunting, you’re in luck. There are some simple steps to follow for finding a trustworthy, affordable real estate lawyer to help with your property and legal needs.

  • Determine what kind of real estate lawyer you need. Many states require a real estate attorney to handle sale closing documents. For more complex matters such as a real estate deal gone awry or foreclosure, you’ll want to find an attorney who has successfully handled cases like yours.
  • Look for online reviews of real estate lawyers in your area. Verify that they have proven experience closing or winning cases like yours and that they are in good standing with the state bar association.
  • Choose two or three lawyers to interview. Many offer a free consultation to learn about your case and provide information about rates. For standard real estate closing services, in-depth interviewing might not be necessary.
  • Ask about their rates and whether they charge by the hour or provide services for a flat fee. Ask whether a retainer is required, and what the total bill should be for a case like yours.
  • Ask for a write-up of the services that will be covered by the projected costs.
  • Make sure you like the real estate agent and they treat you with respect. Confirm whether they or another person will be working on your case and make sure you’re comfortable with all members of their team.
  • Pay the retainer and hire your lawyer.

What is a personal injury lawyer?

A personal injury lawyer fights on your behalf if you’ve been injured physically, psychologically, economically or in reputation. This injury may be the result of neglect or malicious intent of another person, or it could be at the hands of a business, government or other entity. Personal injury lawyers specialize in tort law, which is the law of civil wrongs like car accidents, company wrongdoing, unlawful imprisonment and more.

To become qualified to be a personal injury lawyer in the United States, a person must earn a bachelor’s degree, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from a law school. Most states then require the person to pass the bar exam to become licensed to practice law. Unlike many attorneys who require a retainer, personal injury lawyers often work on contingency fees. This means that in lieu of payment upfront, they receive an agreed-upon percentage of the settlement in case of a win.

What does a real estate lawyer do?

A real estate lawyer represents their client’s best interest in all matters related to the sale, purchase and ownership of real estate. They are experts in real estate law. In states that require a real estate lawyer to close home sales, the lawyer must review and finalize all documents before the deal can be legally completed. Real estate lawyers also help clients legally protect their rights when entering, exiting or renegotiating a real estate deal. You can hire a real estate lawyer as an individual or as a business. A real estate lawyer can help with negotiation, addressing mortgage fraud, managing foreclosures and bankruptcy, transfers of titles and deeds, property ownership disputes, zoning issues, creating a co-ownership contract for joint purchase of a property, and much more. Real estate lawyers can also protect you from issues that result when a known problem was not properly disclosed by the previous owner. Overall, real estate lawyers are an added cost when it comes to buying and selling property, but they also ensure your best interests are met, and that you and the people you are doing business with comply with the law.

What kind of lawyer does wills?

No one likes talking about death, but it’s better than leaving your children or siblings to sort out your estate. A clearly planned will can make the time of mourning easier for everyone. An estate attorney will develop a legal will, create trusts on your behalf, and ensure the proper execution of your estate after you pass away.

Family attorneys and estate attorneys, also called probate and wills attorneys, can each prepare wills. The type of lawyer best suited to prepare your will depends on your situation. Most family attorneys provide services to prepare basic wills, including bequeathing property and personal items to family or naming a guardian for minor children. However, estate attorneys specialize in preparing wills in more complex situations. Consider hiring an estate attorney if you:

  • Have a large number of assets, especially those subject to estate taxes
  • Want to create a trust, such as allowing a spouse to live in your home until he or she dies and then leaving it to your children, or set up long-term care for a beneficiary
  • Have an ownership stake in a business
  • Expect someone to contest your will
  • Want to disinherit your spouse
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
