I've been working out with Steven for about 3 mos. I've seen a lot of benefit. Weight loss, core strength, balance and as importantly, no injuries. Last year, I had my knee replaced and after doing PT, I needed a trainer to begin the process of regaining leg and core strength as well as losing weight. Very glad that I found Steven. Here is what I like about Steven: 1. Good attitude. He's knows how to push you without making it a grind. Eg, talking about the Warriors when you're in the middle of a 90sec plank is key. 2. Workouts are balanced--it is critical that I don't re-injure myself and Steven is able to balance a rigorous workout that combines strength, cardio and balance. At that same time, don't want to overdo it. 3. Smart and Thoughtful-- Steven reviewed my PT and was able to design a workout that was inline with what I needed medically. 4. My girls like him too-- Steven works out with my teenage girls before school. He has them boxing and focussing on core strength. They really like it. Hire Steven if you're serious about achieving your goals!
Corey is an awesome trainer. First off he asked me what my goals were and when I wanted to reach them. At first I just wanted to drop a few pounds, but then I had to change that to prep for a physical exam for a couple different police departments I was applying for. Corey didn't miss a beat and engineered a plan that not only helped me accomplish my original goal, but got me ready for my employment placement tests. Another great thing about Corey is that he gets to know your personality. I am a bit of a tomboy and really like the outdoors-I hate treadmills or any machinery that doesn't let me move out. Corey encouraged my love of hiking and incorporated that into our workout plan and after a few weeks of circuit training, he introduced me to boxing (which I have come to LOVE). His process works! All the exercises we did during circuit training came together in the boxing lessons and I was thrilled! Corey listens to his clients, gets to know them and works with them towards their goals in a way that is both fun and effective! I don't hate exercising anymore! Thanks Corey!
I was looking to do my first triathlon, and needed a trainer that could help me prepare. Evan not only helped me a great deal with the goals I knew I had, he also helped me develop and achieve new ones. His knowledge about training methods, his experience in multiple sports, and his nutrition knowledge are exceptional. These, along with his enthusiasm and professionalism, made every session enjoyable and productive. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trainer that will support, encourage, and collaborate with them to achieve their fitness goals, and maybe even things they might have otherwise never thought to try! I also appreciated the layout, atmosphere, and cleanliness of his studio. What a great experience!
Gabe is my personal trainer. He took me from a flabby size 12 to a fit size 4/6. I have the before and after pictures to prove it. He is kind, funny but tough and focused. If you're always making excuses about it being too cold, too hot, too early or too late to make it to the gym and work out, give him a call. He'll show up at your doorstep and make you get out of bed and into 3 rounds of sumo squats - faster than you can say burpee. I feel young, fit and full of energy. Thank you Gabe for helping me through my fitness journey!
Had a killer workout with Denise! She gave me a few boxing moves that I really enjoyed and made it fun time! Thank you!
Raf is one of the best trainers I've worked with. He's great a teaching technique and is very patient. If you do more than one sport, he's great at taking into consideration your needs and helps you to scale the workout appropriately. I highly recommend him as a trainer!
As I entered my 60s, I wanted to find a good fitness trainer to keep me in decent shape. I found that person in Colin Lewis. He's knowledgeable, personable, and patient. Whether it was free weights, kettles, planks, or even boxing he always knew just the right equipment, timing, and words of encouragement for an enjoyable, results-oriented, custom training experience.
Coach Michael is awesome - ESPECIALLY if you are not that standard athlete. When I walked into my first CrossFit Box I was an unhealthy diabetic and was in the 280 lb. range. I did not think I could do CrossFit at all. But why did I sign-up for the 6 week boot-camp challenge, it was because of Michael, hands down. It was because he didn't give me that sideways look, that look of judgement you get from some gyms, coaches or trainers. I was concerned about sciatic pain, about mobility. Michael told me don't worry I will show you how to modify everything and showed me special stretched to help with that sciatica pain (which over time went completely away). Well 8.5 months later and I progressed so much and no longer needed modifications for a lot of things. Michael was always there for his scheduled coaching sessions, always happy, positive and if he felt the challenge class was lacking umpf and motivation especially on test days, he'd join us in the workouts. He demos everything for you and is always there to give you that high-five and the end of every workout. His workouts are always tough, every day is leg day...and arm day, and core day... He's gonna work you hard but I guarantee you you'll be coming back for more because you will see results and you'll feel amazing!
Nick is great - have been working with him for over 6 months now. He focuses on exercises but also goes beyond to talk about nutrition and behavior change. He also changes the routine around every few months to not let it get boring e.g. adding in some boxing was really fun.
For years, my workout regimen consisted of running and Pilates. Running strengthened my heart and legs, while Pilates kept my core muscles strong and flexible. But something was missing, and I found that missing piece when I began boxing with Jeremy. Not only is boxing an intensely demanding physical workout, it is a mentally challenging workout as well. A professional fighter himself, Jeremy teaches technique, movement, and combinations while also prepping his clients with cardiovascular warm ups, coordination work, and strength. Jeremy has the patience, the knowledge, and the passion to empower and inspire any individual at any fitness level to reach his or her full physical potential. After finishing a workout with Jeremy, I feel strong, I feel empowered, I feel like my money has been well spent, and most importantly, I've had a really good time. I've learned how to physically defend myself should the situation ever arise, I've become noticeably stronger in my upper body and core, and my overall workout regimen is more balanced. In working with Jeremy, I've not only gained a great trainer, I've gained an advocate for my overall physical and mental wellness, and a friend. -Meredith van Loben Sels, 35
I have been training with Joey for half a month now. Four stars for his awesome personality and great sense of humor, as well as his great insight for physical training. I immediately felt comfortable training with him from my first session. He is very personable, and he is very thorough to show you how to do every exercise without hurting yourself. Fitness Urbano is also a great gym to work out! The staff members are friendly, the environment is super quiet and spacious, and there is no need to wait to use equipment since most gyms are so busy, many people wait to use machines. Also, Joey teaches boxing which I found to be fun! So far, I'm enjoying myself having Joey as my personal trainer. They also have Lola, the owner's dog, who is sometimes at the gym, which is great motivation for me to work out. Dogs are always fun to play with after a work-out session. (Haha) I'm sure after a month or two seeing progress on myself, five stars will be well deserved. :)
When I had my baby back in December, I never knew I could experience so much joy and.....jiggle. I gained 35 pounds during my pregnancy, and while every pound was worth it, I didn't anticipate the near disappearance of muscle strength, tone & balance. I started training 2x week with Scott at j+k fitness studio when I was about 10 weeks postpartum, and from the start, he has been mindful of the physical changes I experienced during/after my pregnancy (weak lower back, sciatica & tight shoulders for me). I hoped to lose some of that baby jiggle in a steady & healthy way since I'm BF'ing, and Scott is making that happen. I could barely do a push-up when we first started, and core work? Forget about it...but these days I'm able to keep up with Scott as he moves me through challenging and creative rounds of circuit training/boxing without compromising form and safety. He's also an intuitive reader of my limits ... just when I feel like I have no more reps in me, Scott pushes me to squeeze in a few more and to embrace the burn. I've just started to fit into my pre-preggo jeans and, more importantly, I'm beginning to feel like I own my body again. Can't wait to see what new exercises Scott throws my way!
Andre is very professional and very receptive. He caters to your ability and at the same time pushes you enough so you are getting the best workout. Since he is a boxing professional, he was generous enough to also introduce a boxing/cardio session for additional dimension to your workout. He provides weekly plan of the exercises we need to practice until we meet next. In the 8week session that I was with him, I got the result I wanted to achieve. I highly recommend him.
I found this gem at a boxing gym and wanted to take it a step further so I decided to take personal training with Susan! I am no novice to working out but Susan always brings new workouts into the mix so it’s never boring! I love her creativity and ability to modify movements to fit my fitness level. If you’re looking for someone who is knowledgeable and certified she can help you achieve your fitness goals and take your workouts to another level!
She has been my personal trainer for over a year now. As someone who doesn't feel motivated or have much direction in a gym she has been invaluable for keeping myself healthy.
Dario was very helpful and encouraging during the few months he worked with me. Always had a positive attitude and very supportive. I would highly recommend. Unfortunately I moved out of town or else I would still hire him as my personal trainer.
Mike and I have trained together for over 23 years. During this time, Mike introduced me to staying fit and its benefits. Mike has the amazing ability to keep each work out fresh, different, challenging, and to tailor it to your individual needs. In addition to strength training Mike introduced me to the benefits of stretching and Infused many different regains such as Yoga and Boxing into our daily workouts. Naturally as time went on and my body experienced the aging process, Mike was able to alter our workouts to my daily moods and body condition. Workouts were always challenging, never repetitious, and oh so beneficial. My life and health are so much more enjoyable as a result of my physical and mental well being. I am a big fan of working out and it is a direct result of Mike Andrews and his ability to meet my needs as a trainer.
I have a passion and patience that tends to stand out, you will believe anything is possible after we work together
I teach boxing, foot work, and basic punches. I train clients for fitness or for boxing competition! I teach great cardio.
