I train with Jessica. I have done 3 training + 1 orientation sessions with her till now. She is awesome and encourages me to push through and finish all the exercises. One thing I really like is she asks me to visualize my goal when I am about to give up and that encourages me a lot. She also has great suggestions about the diet I should follow and also the cardio I should be doing on my own time. She is a really good trainer.

I've worked with a few personal trainers over the years and I have to say that hands down, Evan is the best trainer I have ever worked with. I started working out with Evan over a year ago. I have chronic low back pain, and had just had a procedure that was meant to reduce swelling and allow me to exercise more and strengthen my core. I had been doing physical therapy for awhile, but found that the workouts were too mellow, and I didn't really notice any improvement in my core strength. My wife had actually been working out with Evan for a few months and she recommended I try a few workouts with him. Evan has been amazing. The workouts are intense and challenging. He focuses on doing intervals of a quick series of strengthing exercises, with a burst of cardio in between sets that keeps your heart rate elevated for the entire workout. Given my back issues, he is very good about checking in to make sure he is not stressing or straining my lower back (or any other injury I might have picked up). I have noticed dramatic improvement in my core strength and overall fitness in my time with Evan. He also has been willing to email me personalized workouts I can do on my own for days when I'm not working out him. I agree with all the other posts here -- 5 stars. Evan is great.

I have really enjoyed working with Jackie and her team. Their training method is challenging and fun, and an hour session with them flies by. I am used to doing relatively strenuous weight lifting, cardio, and ballet, and I get a great workout on their program. It also works well for pre-natal, still going strong at 36 weeks!

James is an excellent trainer. We worked progressively 2x/week over the last 4 months to increase strength training at my pace and pushed me gently to increase capacity. In addition we added cardio including boxing which has been great and fun! He has inspired me so much that I've built a mini-gym including olympic bars, hand weights, kettle bell, boxing gloves. Even when I had some shoulder discomfort he went out of his way to get me IcyHot to help and advised me how to heal the tendinitis. He also has great tips on nutrition especially protein intake that's important when you're doing toning/strength training. Overall I've never been happier with the balance of toning and cardio in my exercise routine.

I have been training with Felipe since 2010. Before I started training with him, my workouts only consisted of high-intensity cardio kickboxing. After training with Felipe, I realized that while I was fit, I was not strong. Now I get a great mix of cardio and strength training. One of my goals was to be able to do a pull-up on my own. Now I'm strong enough to do 5 in a row! I love the workouts that Felipe creates. Every day is different and he is constantly adding new things to keep it interesting. His workouts can consist of hitting a tire with a sledge hammer, pushing a car in a parking lot, lifting weights, or TRX exercises. And that's just a sampling of it. It changes all the time. He is also a big believer in having correct form. Doing the workout correctly is more important to him than how many reps you can do. If you're looking for a personal trainer who is different than most, Felipe is the trainer for you!

Really enjoyed coming to Christina's class when I was on maternity leave! It was nice to be able to have a sweat session while having my baby right there with me. Christina was very good about incorporating strength training, cardio, and changing up the routines every time. She definitely helped get me back into shape postpartum! Totally recommend!

Denise is really fun to train with. She includes martial arts like boxing and kickboxing into her workouts and makes cardio fun even for someone who abhors cardio like me. One stop fitness really meets my needs and works with me where my current physical abilities are and doesn’t try to push me to work harder than what I’m capable of the trainer is very knowledgeable about physiology and that’s helpful and comforting for me because I’ve had some physical limitations due to accidents and the trainer is working with me to strengthen muscles which will help me be fit and stronger while also working on lowering my weight with cardio exercises

I love the Perfect Trainer in Saratoga Village. It's all inclusive 1-on-1 training in a private setting. I feel relaxed and am not intimidated by all the hard bodies that like to show off all their muscles and how good they look. Lala is very thorough. I can ask her a question about any mobility/strength/conditioning issue and she'll always have an answer that makes sense and is practically useful. If you have injuries and need help with working out, I recommend Lala for great results. Lala's great for any fitness goals you might have even if you're not injured. She shared with me a comprehensive meal plan which I need to implement on how to cook and eat right. So she's pretty much a complete solution for me when it comes to strength training, mobility, cardio conditioning and fitness related nutrition.

If you want to raise the bar and challenge yourself, Jae and Scott are your men. I have been training with the two of them alternately for about a year and a half now. These guys push me beyond my limits. After each session, I literally have almost no breath left. I can only breathe a sigh of relief that I survive. When I decided to work with a personal trainer, my goals are pretty straightforward. I want more muscle tone and definition, gain strength, and maintain a leaner frame. Realistically, I probably will not be able to achieve the desired results if I do it on my own. Prior to training with Jae for the first time, I remember Jae asking me if I do not mind being pushed. With no hesitation, my response was, “No, I do not mind being pushed”. Perhaps I should thought about his question a little longer. Day one, Jae did not waste any time. The difficulty level on my exercise was upped by several notches. It was intense with almost no recovery time in between exercises. It felt like a punishment. In the first few minutes of the session with Jae, I was bathing with my own sweat. Fast forward, every time I meet with Jae, I still sometimes get nervous and doubt my capability to finish my exercise routine. At the end of each session, however, I feel I gain instant results. My body does feel a lot tighter, especially my arms and upper body. Scott, on the other hand, always changes the routine. My exercise routines with him are not predictable, which proves to be effective in my case. My muscles do not get complacent. He would make me do, for example, different variations of push-ups… push-up on a bosu ball, push-up using dumb bells, push-up on one leg, push-up with one arm, push-up with no hands (just kidding!). And those cardio exercises… not my favorite. These are incredibly exhausting! These, however, are the types of exercises that I probably need the most. I would not normally do these on my own. In addition, I should mention that Scott is pretty cool and fun to train with. Although the routines are tough, humor made the session bearable. Lastly, Scott typically spends the last few minutes of the session with stretching, which is nice. It relaxes my muscles after a long intense and vigorous workout…

Serenity has been my personal trainer for the last 6 months. Serenity is a great listener and keeps her training aligned with my physical strength, always kicking it up a notch each week, so that I'm gaining strength over time. She has a great personality, is patient and extremely knowledgeable about strength and cardio training. Her advice and physical physique are inspiring. I look forward to our weekly sessions because she mixes up the exercises and I get a great balanced workout each week. I highly recommend her as she's one of the best trainers around.

    Every Monday and Wednesday a half dozen or so women gather at a local park for an amazing workout/boot camp. The training always includes cardio and core with alternating days of leg work out, arms and whole body. The training is directed and Vanessa pays close attention to intensity and form. She is quick to adjust an exercise if it is beyond an individual's skill and strength! I've been working out with Vanessa for six months and have gotten much stronger! The work outs are fun and never routine. I'm past 65 years old and the rest of the gals are from 35 to 50! Vanessa is amazing in her coaching and training. She is patient yet not afraid to push and challenge! I highly recommend working with her. The only thing that could make it better if she could just control the weather.

    Personal Trainer Martin Villanueva In 2013, I began an ambitious plan to lose weight and “get in shape.” I was in such poor condition that I had difficulty breathing when I walked. I hadn’t done any exercise at all for 40 years. I hated the idea of exercise, but I knew I had to do something for my health. I met Martin, and asked him to help me. He began with simple exercises at my level giving me encouragement to continue with both cardio and resistance. We progressed at a pace just challenging enough to keep me trying, but not too difficult to be discouraging. Martin is a good listener. He used a variety of exercises so I would not get bored.       I started out with a 6-wk Groupon deal and wasn't sure that I'd even like bootcamp (bc it's challenging to find any workout that I look forward to doing or going to) ~ before I even bought the Groupon I called MyFitness. I let Danny know what my fitness goals were to see what he advised for me and he was responsive and knowledgeable. It's been 5 months since then and I'll have to admit that I have a new addiction to bootcamp and MyFitness has a major part in that (in a healthy way) ~ the level of energy that I've gained from it on a daily basis, better sleep at night, the loss of fat & leaning out with muscle, the ever-changing variety in each class (I get bored with too much uniform repetition in general, plus I don't have to spend my energy on making up the exercises myself...just leave it up to Danny and he comes through to give his clients great outcomes) and the changes that I can feel and see in myself!! MyFitness integrates a mixture of cardio, strength training and TRX suspension exercises, which has CONSISTENTLY given me the ultimate results of being 2/3's closer to my goal which I haven't been able to get with any other workout without my development plateauing by this time (and I have done my research and tried a bunch)! Danny also pays attention to each of his clients to push them and encourage them at each of their levels. He is sarcastically funny and keeps the group fun while getting a refreshing workout that doesn't gets old. I also re-injured an old injury from a car accident during this time and my chiropractor says that the strengthening that I gained from bootcamp is mainly what benefit me in healing quicker than average time....on top of that, my friends and family can see a major difference not only in my appearance but in my energy too. The most important part is that I feel better and stronger after each bootcamp!       What should you wear to kickboxing?

      What you wear to kickboxing can vary based on the setting. For kickboxing group fitness classes that are part of a gym’s cardio class schedule, standard fitness attire is appropriate. Athletic sneakers, pants or shorts that you can comfortably kick in without getting tangled or flashing anyone, and a top that allows for easy movement when punching and jabbing are all good choices. You won’t need protective gear or gloves, as most cardio-based kickboxing classes do not use punching bags.

      Kickboxing training that takes place at a martial arts studio typically requires protective gear. You may need boxing gloves (beginners may want 12-ounce or heavier gloves for more cushioning) and hand wraps that protect and support your hands under the gloves while you punch the bag. If your kickboxing training includes sparring with opponents, you’ll need a mouthguard and any protective head and body gear your studio requires. Always be sure to bring plenty of water, too.

      What is a boot camp class?

      Fitness boot camps are a heart-pounding way to boost your fitness level. Boot camps are led by a fitness instructor and are based on the concept of military boot camps — intensive workout programs to get new recruits into shape, quickly. Fitness boot camps encourage camaraderie, and the group momentum helps participants get through fast-paced intervals of cardio, isometric training, strength training and endurance drills. Classes may range anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, and usually meet multiple days per week. Boot camps often run a specific duration of time, say four to six weeks, which creates a team-like environment for class members. Other boot camps run year-round and students purchase package pricing for classes, similar to subscriptions that allow them a set amount of classes per week or per month.

      Boot camps can be held indoors at a gym, outdoors in a park or on a beach, in a backyard — anywhere there’s room for running, jumping and sweating. Some instructors also provide DVD and online boot camps. You can also find boot camps tailored to your heart’s desire, such as bikini boot camp, or boot camps for new mothers. Boot camps offer an intense workout and are usually led by energetic instructors pushing you to do your best, but unlike military boot camp drill sergeants, fitness boot camp instructors typically don’t use intimidation or punishment to spur you on. Check with your doctor before starting a boot camp if you have health concerns, and always let your instructor know ahead of time if you have injuries.

      Is kickboxing hard?

      Kickboxing is as intense a workout as you want it to be. As with any fitness regimen, the more effort you put in, the more results you will get. The type of kickboxing you do will determine how physically challenging it is. Combat or self-defense kickboxing, where you train in a martial arts studio with sandbags or spar against combat partners, can be an intense physical workout. Group kickboxing classes that use sandbags as part of the workout will also elevate the degree of intensity, because of the level of exertion punching and kicking the bag requires. Cardio kickboxing group fitness, which employ kicking and punching moves but no sandbags, has comparable intensity to jogging but works a wider range of muscles while increasing strength, flexibility and coordination. Here are some of the core kickboxing moves:

      • Cross: A straight punch that you throw slightly across your body, using your dominant hand.
      • Jab: A quick, straight, face punch. Usually thrown with the non-dominant hand.
      • Uppercut: A punch thrown up from the midsection (using either hand) that connects with the underside of your opponent’s chin.
      • Hook: A curved punch (using either hand) that connects with your competitor’s jaw or chin.
      • Side kick: A kick delivered when your competitor is at an angle to you. Raise your leg to the side, then bend at the knee to deliver the kick.
      • Front kick: A kick delivered straight on while you are facing your opponent.
      • Roundhouse kick: A kick delivered by swinging a leg up in a clockwise or counterclockwise motion (depending on which leg you’re using) with momentum to strike the opponent with the instep of the foot.

      What do you need for kickboxing?

      What you need to bring to kickboxing depends on where you are working out and what your goals are. For a gym or fitness club’s cardio-based group kickboxing class that does not use punching bags, you generally need only appropriate workout gear and enough water. For kickboxers who are training in a martial arts studio, working one-on-one with a trainer toward a specific goal or sparring with competitors, you will need your own boxing gloves (12- to 16-ounce gloves provide more protection for beginners) and hand wraps (to protect and support your hands under the gloves, as well as keep them dry). If your lessons are in a martial arts studio, you may not be permitted to wear shoes, so bring clean socks if you don’t like to go barefoot. If your training includes sparring, you may be required to wear a mouthguard and/or protective headgear. Whether you’re in a group fitness class or hardcore training session, bring a sweat towel for your comfort and the comfort of people around you.

      How much is a boot camp?

      The cost of fitness boot camps depends on how often you go, the package you are purchasing (or if you are paying a drop-in fee), the location of the bootcamp, the equipment the instructors provide, and the background and reputation of the instructor. Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living typically have lower rates for boot camp services than big cities and regions with a higher cost of living. If you’re paying per class on a drop-in basis, expect to pay anywhere from $12 to $25 or more, depending on the region and the instructor. When you purchase a package of classes, typically the more you buy at one time, the cheaper each class is. The same boot camp class might be $20 for a drop-in student, $15 for a student who pays for 10 classes per month, and $10 for a student who pays for 30 classes a month. Studio space can also affect costs, so if your boot camp takes place in a high-end gym with top-of-the-line equipment, the prices will likely be higher than a class that meets in an outdoor space with limited or no equipment. Shop around to find the right type of boot camp class and the right instructor for you.
