About
I have been playing drums professionally from the age of thirteen years old. I have years of experience performing/touring, recording/producing and educating.
I have been fortunate to perform with some legendary artists such as: Maynard Ferguson, Greg Adams (Tower of Power), Aly and AJ, Toni Childs, and numerous other world class musicians.
I have several students who have gone on to become professional drummers in high profile bands.
My focus with my students is to prepare them for professional working situations in the areas of live performance, touring and recording.

Evan is not only an incredible drummer, but also a great teacher! As a professional drummer and drum instructor myself, I’m very particular on the teacher I choose for my personal drum lessons. Evan is one of the only teachers I trust to give instruction and guidance in the areas I truly need the help. This takes a ton of professional experience, as well as skill. He has a way of breaking complex fundamentals down in a simple way without setting the bar intimidatingly high. He has helped me to accomplish things I never thought I could do on the drums. For me, Evan has a way of uncovering and exposing my bad habits, but then fixing them, thus making me a better player. This is always done in a friendly encouraging way. In my opinion, Evan Stone is not just a teacher, but a GURU of the drums! The proof is not only in his playing but also in his teaching!

I have taken lessons from other drummers before I found Evan. They all taught me how to play THIS fill , or THAT beat. I knew there was a big difference between Evan and the other teachers the first lesson I had with him.
He showed me how to improve my stick grip, posture, and mindset before playing.
While I play at his lessons, he provides constructive criticism and examines my style of playing. Evan will often play the beat for you and ask you what is the difference between how he played it and how you played it.
Your first response will probably be something like, "did I miss the snare on the and of four?".
He shows you that playing it "accurately" is not all there is to playing it. Evan shows you how to play with accents, power, and confidence, while still being relaxed.
I have been taking lessons from Evan for over a year, and every lesson I have become better at identifying inaccuracy in my playing, improvising and implementing rudiments into my solos, reading music, and playing with confidence. I just wish I had longer lessons so I could improve even more!

I've been playing for over 16 years, and I decided to seek lessons for the first time. I studied with another teacher before Evan for over a year, not really feeling like I was getting my moneys worth, or that I was making any good progress.
I parted ways with this teacher after seeing Evan and three of his students blow me away at a local jazz event. His students were much younger and much, much better than I,
and I knew I had to find out who was responsible for their virtuosity.
I set an appointment with Evan and we got right down to business. I explained that I thought some of my self taught stick technique was holding me back, and although I was doing well in most of the areas, he agreed that it was holding me back.
Evan IMMEDIATELY noticed issues with my posture and grip and not only corrected them, but gave me clear, simple and challenging exercises to address them.
In that one hour long lesson, I had already learned more than the $700+ dollars I'd invested with this other teacher (who was similarly accredited, this wasn't just any teacher).
Next lesson, Evan helped me break through and learn five and six stroke rolls. I've never been able to do them, and in less than an hour I was more or less fluid with them. A couple weeks later, I'm completely fluent with them.
Spend your money and your time with Evan – it's impossible to regret. It's like having Einstein tutor you in math, and there's nothing lost in translation. He can teach you from any skill level to any skill level you want. If I had an unlimited budget, I would spend all of my time at Evan's studio. Look no further.

Evan Stone is a great drum teacher and smart how he teaches, very professional and taught me a lot about Stick Control and independence along with Jazz, latin and rock styles, also taught me a lot about soloing. I'm always up for more lessons from him! Thanks Evan
