Introduction: ANMA MASSAGE THAI MASSAGE TUINA
Welcome!
My specialty is traditional Oriental bodywork, and in particular Anma, which is the classical massage of Japan.
Anma, Tuina and Thai, are all intense yet gentle forms of massage, that is a favourite amongst those who prefer a strong, deep massage, but who seek more than the regular pressure of Deep Tissue Massage. All these massage styles are excellent for relaxation and well-being, but they are also the manual therapy of their respective medical traditions. This means that they are extremely effective in addressing the needs of athletes, issues of trauma and pain, and general wear and tear we subject our bodies to as the years go by. However, the mainstay of oriental medicine is that prevention is better than a cure, so these massages are used in the Far East to keep the body lithe and nimble, to stave off the effects of burn-out and the pressures of work, and to help everyone feeling happy and chipper.
After a session of Anma or Thai, you can expect to feel both deeply relaxed and at peace, yet also alive and gently alert. This is because as the deep pressure, the stretching and soothing are easing the tension and pain from your muscles, the massage is also having a profound and very real effect on your body's energy system. Your body softens, your energy settles, and your spirits are refreshed and become still
Please note that Anma and Thai Massage are usually performed on the floor with the recipient dressed in loose, comfortable clothing (not provided). Similarly, Tuina can be applied through one's clothing, but in certain rare cases, it may be necessary to work directly on the skin with a massage medium.
I hold certified massage therapist registration number 54566, which can be verified at the CAMTC's website.
