I was a Bride before my time, although I waited to find my Groom and Life Partner and married when I was 40yrs old. I'd already worn White at teen years events, and knew it wasn't the color for me, as magical as white can be. Youngest of four, Mom had passed, siblings too busy with life and stressful jobs, or too far away to get involved, I coordinated the Lion's share of my learning about how to put a wedding together via Suzanne M. Smith, whom I found litterally searching on the internet via Google.(I also attended 12 Bridal Shows to get a clear understanding of the Wedding Industry, utilized Wedding Sites, Books and Wedding magazines). My residence was on the East Coast and my roots were in the Laguna Beach, CA sand, and that's exactly where I wanted my toes to be dug into, on the day of my wedding. Of the "Wedding Flower People," I contacted and interviewed, and soon learned Suzanne is a Wedding Floral Designer amongst other amazing talents, Suzanne spent over an hour and a half with me on our first phone call!!! 10yrs in Customer Service in my life, I knew Suzanne was my #1 Vendor of choice for flowers, from what I thought at the time. You see, I never imagined I would be getting married at all, and a Tomboy for life, her impact was huge on the first interaction. I had my 'Wedding Dream,' slowly developing, and I created my idea for my wedding dress, right from the core of my love of Color, based on an artifact I purchased in Fiji where my now husband proposed. My wedding dress designer, Coco Voci presented me with 50 Swatches of colors for which I could only pick 3. I picked four, and we ended up with, Deep Purple Blue, Mauve, and Turquoise as though we were in the Pacific Oceans, scuba diving on the day of my wedding. I shared this artifact with all my Vendors. Suzanne took off, leading the way with the designs, flowers, inducing my dreams of a Tropical Day Of Island Colors with flowers fitting for an island dream gettaway. Everything in my wedding was a custom designed and created item. Nothing Traditional! I had my wedding disaster on my Engagement Ring, but Suzanne supported me through it, along with close friends who made it happen, and flowers that were just incredible. Lillies, Roses, Orchids, in my boquet; Orchids flown in from Hawaii for me and my husband's Lei; Glass bowls of flowers under and on top of the water with a scuba diver scene underwater in the bowls - it was soo fun!! Sarongs of many colors adorning the tables for the guests to choose as parting gifts (One of seven gifts!), Tables designed and set up as exotic scuba diving locations across the globe, A 5-6 Cake Design with incredible Stargazer Lillies and a Waterfountain in the center of all the cakes; A Rose Ceremony with the most stunning two Red Roses for my husband and I, and a 'Break-Apart Bouquet' for when I tossed my bouquet over a balcony to my guests. I interviewed all my vendors seeing as my Engagement Ring designer was my first and major disaster, and Suzanne made suggestions from her Wedding Network as I came into vendors who I just wasn't sure on. Each vendor I had a wild story on, my Cake Tasting was like that of an "I Love Lucy" episode! LOL! My Blues Band was wonderful and poingnant from the ceremony to the dancing, my Wedding Hotel was smack dab on the beach where the Ceremony took place, with everyone barefoot except my Dad, and the gifted colorful Parasol's to take home, gave shade for everyone. It was a day that still feels like yesterday, a dream come true, and I was thrilled to have Suzanne be my Floral Designer, supporting me daily via AOL's Instant messenger online, and her eye for creative detail, everywhere! It was a life changing experience for me in my life, and I felt so fortunate to be working with Suzanne M. Smith through it all! Suzanne knows her work, products, reliable vendors, original designs for creativity and above all, is honest and will make sure you know what you want is 'doable,' or not, and will make a creative suggestion to be beautiful and a life lasting memory of dreams that came true. I so loved my wedding, and people really had fun, and I have no regrets, at all. None. With my husband being from New Zealand, Suzanne also helped with flowers from afar, too, as we set up for a double ceremony down in New Zealand. Again, gorgeous! What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our starting minimum for 2016 weddings is $2000. + current sales tax and delivery. We do offer a 2% active Military discount ( proof is required). We Are fully insured for all events and happily supply a copy of our Liability insurance cert to the venue in the above pricing.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Contact us for date availability. For weddings , does your budget meet our Minimum for contract? If so we are happy to set up a floral consultation. We Love our clients and truly listen to your ideas and bring your vision to life
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Suzanne is a third generation designer with an art and costuming background. We attend floral seminars for AIFD and CA Flower Council and trade shows to learn the latest techniques and the best new products and design influence. Just as in the fashion world, Flowers and trends change from season to season. Experience in designing and creating floral beauty for everything from simple backyard parties, casual to grand gala weddings and even Rose parade floats!
