- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
It's nice when my clients know what brand of locks they have because sometimes I'll get to a house and the lock is some crazy European brand that I'm not prepared to work on. The number of locks that you have is based on key holes. If you have a double cylinder deadbolt and a keyed knob, that counts as 3 (cylinders) when counting up the total amount of locks for a rekey. Lots of times my clients will tell me how many doors they have and then when I get to their house I have to revise my quote because the work is double than what was expected. For example, most homes have about 3-5 doors so if my client said they have 5 locks that they want to rekey, but they were really referring to the number if doors, then , in this example, this house would likely have 10+ locks which would result in a higher price to complete the work.
