About
I have been performing kid's magic shows for over twenty years. The magic show is 40 minutes long, and includes a live dove and rabbit. Call for further details and event consultation. Many customers request a video. I tried this but found the parents showed it to their children who in turn watched it repeatedly. Upon the day of the show the child would dutifully inform everyone what was about to happen and...ruin the entire show. Hence, I do not have any video.

James came to my grandson's preschool for his sixth birthday party. He checked in with me the day before to confirm all the arrangements. He arrived on time and set up in a reasonable time while the kids were outside playing. His act was perfectly geared toward young children -- they were amazed and amused. He was gentle and funny but not patronizing to them, and the adults found his humor funny as well. My grandson has a childhood anxiety condition called selective mutism. James tried a couple times to involve the boy in his tricks but early on realized he would not participate so he didn't push him but still managed to make him feel special w/o embarrassing him. He worked with the teachers to determine which children to call out for assistance with tricks. All in all it was a wonderful experience for all the children and very easy for me. I highly recommend James Preston for a happy birthday for any group of children.

Very engaging and responsive with the children at the party. The kids really enjoyed his show as did the adults. It was good to have the kids up front, Because of size of room it was a little difficult for adults in back of room to see or hear.

I wanted my daughter's 9th birthday party to be memorable and he helped make it just that! My daughter assisted on some of the acts--made her feel special. Both kids and parents were entertained. The dove and bunny acts were a hit!

We had a very good experience with James! He was very punctual and entertained our little audience very well. He was very responsive and interactive with the Birthday kid and his friends. It was lovely to watch all our guests having fun watching James perform! Thank you for your service!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    Prices start at $175.00 and depend largely on distance and mileage. Also, a non-refundable deposit is required, however if I cannot perform for any reason the deposit is refunded in full.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

    There are many magicians, but few of them actually specialize in performing for children.
