Introduction: Hi! My name is Lydia. I also go by the name Jen. I am a traveling Pilates instructor, and I am excited to come to your location. I will be able to teach and deliver the amazing world of Pilates with any piece of Pilates equipment you have at your location, such as mat, reformer, cadillac, chair, ladder barrel, and Pilates arch/spinal corrector. The minimum that you must have is a thick Pilates or yoga mat (1/3"-1/2") and a clear space to work in (5 ft x 8 ft area). I am a PMA ® Certified Pilates Instructor. I have my Full Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Certification from ABC Pilates/Balanced Body! My training has been in both classical and contemporary Pilates, working with the mat, reformer, cadillac, chair and ladder barrel. I am familiar with Balanced Body, Gratz and Stott's equipment. I have an extreme love for Pilates! It is an invigorating form of exercise for any person no matter where you are in life. Pilates had always been a fun and unique exercise for me. However, a few years ago, after a severe car accident involving shoulder and neck injuries, Pilates became my sole life saving exercise. With the return of my full strength and energy, I decided to teach and give Pilates to others. In addition, I have a background in nursing, and thus I teach Pilates utilizing my nurse assessment skills. As an RN, I am familiar with many injuries and illnesses. I have always striven to bring patients and clients to their greatest potential. I am excited to change and transform lives with Pilates, so let's begin! I would love to meet you! How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always been a very active and healthy person: a runner, dancer, yoga and Pilates lover! My prior profession was an RN in a variety of settings. I enjoy giving health to others! It was because of a severe car accident that I turned to Pilates solely. I had to let go of all running, yoga and dancing as they were detrimental at the time. Pilates was the only exercise I could perform. It became the key element to my recovery! I am forever grateful to Joseph Pilates who developed this exercise with the intent of bringing physical and mental health to everyone! The reformer was first developed by Joseph Pilates as he worked in a hospital during World War 1 with many injured soldiers. The Pilates practice is very unique in the sense that we are able to work with the limitations we may encounter or live with in life. It is also an excellent form of exercise to maintain a healthy lifestyle as well as a preventative health practice for many injuries and ailments. I am so thrilled to be able to give to others what I have been given with Pilates!
What types of customers have you worked with?
I will teach the basics and essential elements of Pilates! I will help you discover your Core!---- We will strengthen your core and radiate the strength to your extremities! I will develop exercise plans specific to your level and your needs. We will work as a team! Our dreams will come true!!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Although Pilates is an excellent healing exercise, there are some medical diagnoses that need a physician's clearance. These include heart conditions, Osteoporosis, recent surgeries/hospitalizations or conditions that have altered your daily living activities in a significant manner. ( I am currently not accepting pregnancies.) We will discuss any health concerns so that your pilates exercise program will be safe - Modifications will be given throughout. I am so very excited to share the secrets of Pilates!!
