Hello! My name is Mike and I have done graphic design since 2002. I worked at a silk screen and embroidery company for promotional wearables for over 8 years straight but then I took a hiatus to focus on a different career path but now I am back doing an old passion of mine in graphic design. With my previous employer I created designs and logos for family events, Little League baseball teams , thousands of schools and their teams and clubs, churches and of course companies and more. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Is determined by the complexity of the design, at my discretion. Plus the number of times we tweek the design at creating something you finally approve of. I would like to get it right on the first try but it just depends on whether or not you know what you want at the beginning.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Gathering as much information about your design needs and wants. Does it need to have the Team Name, an address, Hours of operation, phone numbers, etc? Does it need to include a specific color scheme? If there is a picture or design that you already have that you will need included I will need that. Etc.
And lastly, by when do you need this artwork done? Super important.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have no formal training. I learned this craft on my own and did it daily from 2001 to about 2011. I was really good at it, but it just wasn't paying the bills so I went and did something else for my career. But now I am back "on the horse" doing this as a hobby/side hustle and its been super fun doing something that I used to NEED to do, as something I WANT to do now.
