I just moved into a new house with my wife and we really needed some help with the new babies room as well as our living room. We came out of a small apartment and didn't have a lot for this new place. We heard through a friend about Thumtack and started looking around. We contacted a few people but Elizabeth really stood out above the rest. She could work with our schedule, our budget, and our location. She came complete with some great ideas since we sent her some photos of the different area we wanted her to sculpt. When she got to our home she was very warm and thoughtful. She, herself, is a mom so she had a bit of foresight into what would work best in the babies room as well as the livingroom. Within a few weeks we were up and running and could not have thanked her enough. Two complete rooms at a very reasonable rate. I have already refered her to a few friends and look forward to seeing their ideas come to life with her designs.

Elizabeth has been my corporate designer for over a year. While I have ventured into the bar and restaurant industry she has been in charge of the design and furniture aspects of the business. She has been hard-working and has excellent ideas which customers have loved. She's dependable, honest and great to work with. I recommend her design company highly.

I give an unequivocal 5 star review for Elizabeth Schulenburg Designs. Elizabeth has been instrumental in the design of our Spanish style bungalow. She has been extremely professional and spot on her budget. She has a great eye for design. If you are looking for a designer, she is it! Elizabeth is at her best analyzing a project and organizing it. We just purchased a house and knew conceptually how we wanted the remodel and design. It was quite frankly, overwhelming. She broke up the components in steps and designed a home we are very proud of. Elizabeth first designed our bathroom remodel. It was an odd small space and she insisted on moving the door to maximize the space. I would never have thought of moving the door. I am so glad we did because the finished project not only looks great, but functions well. She also introduced colors and finishes I quite frankly didn’t think about. End result was fabulous. Concurrent to the bathroom remodel, she helped us pick out the wall colors for the rest of the house, flooring finish and furniture. She also designed our backyard BBQ space. I am someone who is afraid of color but I know what I like when I see it. Elizabeth and I exchanged ideas and she was able to get a feel for my taste. She was always conscious of the budget but knew where to spend the cash to get the biggest bang. I didn’t want a cookie cutter, purchased from a catalog look. I like vintage and unusual items. Elizabeth shopped antique stores and flea markets for us and had the discerning eye for what would look right. She always double checked on getting our approval for a purchase. For example, she was adamant about a certain type of wood molding. Normally I would have gone cheaper and painted the molding. But wow, it turned out great and it made sense to spend on iconic architectural details because it will last for the rest of the life of the house. It’s these small details that upgrade your house. I was first skeptical about hiring someone online, but I am so happy I took that initial risk. Elizabeth will work with you. She has a quiet confidence and she is a lot of fun to work with. Plus she is so dang nice and polite. When you have a designer with a comprehensive design, your house flows, is seamless and effortless. There is a cohesive theme and feel to your home. Five stars for sure!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I offer a great deal of flexibility with my pricing. I can provide a consultation ($250-$500) which consists of meeting with you, going over your project in detail, measure the space and providing you with a space plan. Additionally, I will follow up with you can give you a list of recommended resources, such as contractors, furniture vendors, etc who I believe will be a good fit for you and I'll make any other recommendations you may need. For my entire involvement and/or project management I can be compensated by a flat fee or on an hourly basis.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I use a Simple and Personalized Interior Design Approach The following steps outline our approach for creating attractive interior designs that reflect the tastes and lifestyles of our clients. I get to know you. Your interior design is all about you, not about another attractive picture in our design portfolio, or a cookie cutter copy of something you’ve seen online. We want to learn about your style preferences, your design dislikes and your tolerance for transition. It’s also important to know how your home is used on a daily and special event basis so we can create a design that accommodates your lifestyle year-round. Discuss budget and timeline. Your budget and timeline will determine whether we move forward with a full-scale interior design project or whether we implement a multi-phase approach to ensure your transitional and finished design meets your current and future needs. The research phase. Once you have done your “homework,” and we feel clear that we understand and agree on the main objectives, our team will get to work researching options and developing considerations based on your budget and timeline. Make the primary selections. You will be able to select from the design options we provide for you, and we can work together to tweak and amend them until they are exactly right. Get to work. Once everything is agreed upon, we will get to work making your interior design dreams a reality. Our team will update you regularly regarding the status of your project so you never feel out of the loop. We are absolute pros at putting out fires, resolving conflicts, and handling unexpected challenges as they come up – it’s all a part of the interior design process. The finishing touches. As your project nears completion, we will work closely with you to place furniture and furnishings, select unique artistic accents, install wall hangings and add all the other little extras that provide the finishing touches to the finished design. Enjoy the final product. Now it’s time to sit back, relax, and revel in an interior design that reflects your personality and accommodates your lifestyle. This is a good time to prepare gracious responses to the myriad of compliments you’ll receive from family and friends.
