I am an athlete at heart and I found myself completely unhappy with my body and health about a year ago. After trying to work on my self esteem first, I decided in September it was time to get back into fitness like I had been my whole life. I came on thumbtack and scheduled meetings with five different trainers. I met with JJ first and cancelled the rest before I even had a workout with him. Honestly I hired him only based off of his personality and game plan for for getting me back into shape. He literally is one of the funniest people I have met. However he doesn't mess around when it's time to work. And each workout I find that he can push me to limits I didn't know I had. I have lost 24 pounds so far but have become so much stronger and healthier. We weight lift, do cardio, and he has taught me personal defense. I was skeptical paying money to get fit but I'm investing in my health and it truly makes me happy. (He is going to make fun of me for getting sappy on this but whatever he deserves it)

I enrolled my 12yr old son with Marty to help him stay focused, learn the basics of self-defense and Marty's unique technique of Lima Lama. Marty worked around my schedule and was extremely patient with my son. My son was always eager to go to Marty's classes. Learned so much from him. Thank you Marty!

I would highly recommend him. I hired him last week for self defense classes. He is very educated about fitness and human anatomy. Even though my back pain puts limitations, however he was able to design a specific program to improve my overall health.

We've been taking karate at American Kenpo Karate in both group and private class for two years. As an educator who works with both kids and young adults, I appreciate their care and professionalism. I know my daughter is safe with her instructors. She has thrived under their study and has earned her belts through hard work and well executed katas. In addition Kenpo is the best form of self defense for karate. The classes teach discipline, excellent form and responsibility. I would look here before considering anywhere else. They are a step above the rest!

I am a great fan of Shihan Hojati, whose experience, knowledge and teaching skills are simply superb. I am greatly respectful towards his insights regarding Karate do. His approach towards his class is self defense and fitness oriented and his teaching methods encompass the traditional as well as the modified. All the kids as well as the adults benefit greatly in terms of fitness of body as well as that of the mind from his teaching. I have been training with him for more than a year now and hope to be here longer still as I enjoy every class with him!
