Hi, I'm Kat! Working with my clients on one of the biggest days of their lives is such an honor. There’s nothing like capturing the excitement and emotion of my brides and grooms as they prepare for and take that walk down the aisle. I am also completely obsessed with beautiful light and live for the chance to combine that sunset glow with your genuine joy. My style shows my background in film photography, and including a mix of both film and digital images is a service I am proud to offer. If you are looking for a family photographer that is patient, creative, good-natured, engaging, and most of all talented, Kat is your girl.

Between the span of January 2018 and February 2019, we have had 4 sessions with Kat to document life events – those being a maternity shoot, a newborn shoot, fall family portraits, and my son’s 1st birthday. Each time, we are completely blown away by the images that are returned to us.

For my maternity photos in particular, I am being honest when I say I did not feel like one of those ‘cute’ pregnant people. I was more of the uncomfortable all the time/awkward pregnant people. You would absolutely not know it in looking at our pictures. To date, they are now my favorite pictures I have of myself, ever. This was our first interactions with Kat as our photographer, and we were immediately made to feel comfortable. She is just that friendly and real. Backing it up even more, prior to our shoot, Kat was always available for any of our questions, including running our outfit choices past, to make sure that we are wearing an outfit that will coordinate well together, as well as with the theme. In addition, she has no problem rescheduling if the weather doesn’t look like it’s going to work out. I can’t even quantify the number of compliments I got on these maternity photos.

When our son was born – she made herself available to complete his newborn photos a mere 2 days after he came home from the hospital. She showed up to our house completely ready with everything needed. She is incredibly patient and gave us tips on making sure this tiny human we were trying to get to know was at his best for his debut pictures. He even peed on her backdrop, which I am still totally embarrassed about, but it was quite funny and she took it totally in stride. We ended up buying every single shot from our newborn photo shoot. There was not one image that we could have went without. Looking back a year and a half later, I still feel exactly the same. These are pictures we are going to truly treasure forever.

In the fall, we did a short mini session with Kat. I was so excited to participate in one of these offerings of hers. Basically, you get a 20-minute chunk of time (a mini session) back to back with other sessions, all at the same location. Even though it’s a short session length, we never felt rushed at all. We got quite a few images that we loved from this session – and it was so much fun!

Lastly, we did a shoot for our son’s 1st birthday. This is where I have to say Kat shined even more than normal on everything I have mentioned above. 1-year olds are not cooperative. Ours in particular, was grouchy the entire day. Kat is absolutely determined to get the shot, and her perseverance is the sole reason we got back some incredible shots of our grumpy boy. When she learned he loved Baby Shark, she immediately started singing it and dancing around to get a smile out of him. She was consistently playing with him to make him comfortable and happy, which we SO appreciated.

In the weeks following the shoot – I become a stalker of her FB and IG pages. She will often post teasers of her recent shoots there and I LOVE when I get to see a sneak peek of our images. Once she is done with all of her editing/magic, she will set up some time to meet with you to go over all of your images, and this is where you can pick what you want printed.

I truly love her style of picture taking. I always get back images that highlight the people, but also the great scenery we are in. They look absolutely fantastic on our walls, and we are so grateful to have found her!

Kathrine did a great job with our family photos. We had her meet us at a park for a family reunion photo, and when we arrived, she was already there and had already scoped out the area for the best places to take the pictures. Very nice and sweet photographer! On time to our appointment and was very responsive to emails. Kathrine is quick to provide sneak peek images after the session. She helps you with posing if you're kind of awkward and don't know how to stand like a model. She gives you a link to a website that's easy to view and download your photos. A few cons: Some of the photos looked a little too bright and washed out. I feel like our black hair looked too shiny and gray due to the brightness of the photos. Another thing I didn't like was that we only got to select a few photos to download. Additional photos from our session would costed more to download so you have to pay more for each photo.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I currently offer 3 wedding collections with prices starting at $2,600. Each includes a full engagement session and all edited images delivered digitally and on USB storage. Collections can also be customized based on your needs and budget.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I work with my clients to learn about their plans and build a quote that meets their needs and their budget. Once booked, with a 25% retainer paid, the pricing and date are locked in, and they are able to schedule the engagement session. I provide help choosing wardrobe and locations for the session and deliver the engagement photos digitally within a few weeks. I check in with my clients periodically in the months leading up to the wedding to see how planning is going and offer any help needed. Every couple and wedding are unique, so about 6 weeks before the wedding you will receive a questionnaire asking about all of the little details of the day so that I can help construct a timeline and shot list. About a month before the wedding we schedule a consultation either in person or via phone to go over the questionnaire and chat about my ideas for the plan I have created. I like doing this because then you know what to expect out of me on the day of and it is one less thing to think about. After the wedding I post a few peeks and then deliver the full gallery, both via a digital gallery and on USB storage, within 60 days.

I studied photography from high school through college and still take continuing education courses. I do what I love, so naturally, I love to learn more about it whenever I can.
