I have over 30 years of teaching experience, special talent with young children, having taught my own sons Cale and Jody from age 2, both pros today but I do teach all ages. I am a full time professional drummer and teacher and am the leader of two bands, the Lock Brothers (Rock) and The Lenny Gee Jazz Trio. I have studied with some of the most famous drummers in the world beginning with the Jazz legend, Elvin Jones, David Garabaldi of Tower of Power and for the past 15 +years and presently with jazz great, Joe Porcaro. I love to play drums and I love to teach others the beauty of playing the drum set and watch them progress and achieve their musical aspirations. It's so great to see my students go on to music college and playing in their own bands.

Best drum teacher in the South Bay hands down. Lenny is patient, and pays very close attention to your technique and helps you work on what NEEDS work and will also teach you whatever you want at the same time and is compassionate and generous with his time. I've had other teachers and he has me on the right track FINALLY, I feel like I will be able to make a living as a drummer! He was taught by many of the best and most famous drummers in the world! I can't say enough about him, if you're serious about being a PROFESSIONAL drummer look nowhere else!!!!

Lenny has an optimized curriculum to get you up and running in accomplishing your goals. He has been playing and teaching a long time. He has helped me fix gaps in my playing to make things more fluid for me. He evaluates my playing and adjusts the curriculum to what he thinks will benefit me most. He teaches me what I need to know to be an all around drummer and what I want to know that is specific to my interests at the time. He has devoted his life to his craft, he is very generous with his time because he loves what he does and this is all very inspiring. Both of his sons are professional drummers and there's no mistaking why. I grow exponentially with every lesson and I am very grateful to have stumbled across Drumville Studios.

Lenny is a drummers drummer. His knowledge and experience combine into one of the most qualified drum teachers in America. From Rock, Jazz, Blues, and Funk; Lenny has the technical knowledge to teach across all major musical influences. Lenny will dramatically improve your hands and your site reading skills better than anyone I have ever worked with. His credentials are impeccable and you will see the influence of his teachers; Elvin Jones, Joe Porcaro and Sonny Igoe (some of the greatest drummers in history). I know of no one else in the South Bay that you can teach the legacy of these drum masters. Lenny is perfect for beginners and accomplished drummers of any age. I have been playing drums and classically trained since 1968 and Lenny is the guy I go to for improvement and new technique.

FAQs

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have 2 options, Tuition is based on 4 lessons. $140 for 4-30 minute lesson or a discounted $220 for 4-1 hour lessons. Keep in mind that I do not have the constraints of a music store and give extra time when need and time allows. I am not a clock watcher.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It all depends if they are a beginner or have been playing for a while. First lesson is always an extended lesson at no charge to see where they are at musically and technically if they have experience. All my students learn to read from day one.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have always taken drum lessons throughout my musical career. I feel it is very important to continually improve yourself as a musician. I have studied privately with Elvin Jones, Sony Igoe, David Garabaldi, Ed Soph, and Joe Porcaro for the past 15 years.
