FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I grew up working for my Dad. He noticed I preferred Lincoln Logs to Legos. Meaning wood, not plastic. I've been making things out of wood since before I could ride a bike. To be still doing it is all that I could want from a career.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Craftsmen Bungalows were built with VGDF (vertical grain doug fir). Unfortunately, it was painted over back in the 20's. You do NOT need to buy new wood (you already have it), or pay for it to be replaced. Nine out of ten times, once the paint is stripped, the wood looks beautiful with a stain/sealer. Somewhat messy, but more than worth the money and time as you're home is now a vintage display of old-world craftsmanship.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask them to bring their crew to your home before you hire them. Then make sure that's who actually comes into your home.
