Introduction: Ivy-League educated (Brown, BA with honors), 30+ years experience at college admissions, as well as speaking, writing, business and legal consultation. College Admissions expert. I've been involved in college admissions since I was a student at Brown and worked in the Admissions Office for all four years (gave the admissions tours, admin assistant); I learned the Admissions game from the inside, and have life-long admissions officer friends (two former admissions experts will review the work we do). It's so satisfying to help juniors & seniors craft and present the most impactful application/essays telling their unique "story" that will be attractive to Admissions, and use the tricks of the trade to raise their Admissions visibility. I also headed Brown's Southern California alumni association for 12 years (the country's largest) while working with Admissions. I've guided hundreds of applicants how to get into selective schools (including my daughters), by executing killer applications and strategy to get best exposure and chance to "get in" to schools of applicant's choice in today's competitive college environment. Entertainment/Media/Marketing Counsel. Seasoned expert with legal and business background in this area. Enjoy working with start-up or up-and-coming businesses and talent, and guiding them how to get going in the best, most efficient way, with the proper documentation, strategy, communications, relationships. I work with a variety of people who need writing help and preparation, including emails, resumes, proposals, business communications, and reports. English-as-Second Language tutor/partner. Helped many different clients (from Germany, France, Japan, China, Italy, Brazil) improve their English language and writing skills, and helped them with their everyday needs and goals. Personal tutoring to quickly learn proper grammar, pronunciation, and phrases & colloquialisms of "Americanized"English, writing for their work/school, business and educational guidance. I enjoy very much working closely one-on-one with people from other countries, business people, students, entrepreneurs, and others, to give you warm, personalized service to help gain confidence and improve your skills with: - Speaking and writing the difficult "American" English language for your particular needs. - Creating clear, excellent emails, proposals, reports, websites, etc., for your business, school, or group activities (which I will help you do) - Improving personal skills, strategy, and proposals for your business, school, media, entertainment, or talent opportunities I look forward to speaking with you about what you need and helping you succeed.

College Admissions Counseling

My daughter needed help with a college Counseling with Private college essays. We are so fortunate to meet Randy who is an Ivy league graduate and a retired lawyer, which I investigated verified the fact (background search). He has done above and beyond with his work and coaching my daughter how to strategize her college application process. Due to overwhelming numbers of applications for the top tier colleges, she did not get in to Brown or Yale, but she has been accepted to all UCs, Pfizer, Clement and Scripps (with $30,000 per year merit scholarship) and Northeastern. At the end, she has decided to go to UC Berkeley. Once again you won't regret working with him.

Rand's knowledge of the college admissions system is the real deal and helped me get into SEVERAL IVY-TIER schools. His excellent writing skills, coupled with an intimate understanding of admissions, made him the perfect "second pair of eyes" while he guided me through the confusing and brutally-competitive admissions process. Rand worked with me for hours to fine-tune my essays and ensure that the content and writing style were appropriate for admissions while also giving me some tips and tricks on how to increase my "visibility," an especially pressing concern given the 60,000-120,000 applications each T20 school receives every year. As far as big public schools go, I was admitted to UCSB/SD, UC Berkeley, UCLA, and USC (not public but very much in the Cal arena). For the liberal arts schools, in addition to being admitted to Wesleyan and Pitzer (Berkeley tier schools), I also got into Pomona College, the country's most selective liberal arts college (8% acceptance rate!) and a MORE SELECTIVE SCHOOL THAN HALF THE IVIES!!! Rand made the application process much easier/more accessible, and after having so much success with barely on-target stats, I couldn't recommend him more. Heed Rand's advice closely, the man knows his stuff.

ESL (English as a Second Language) Lessons

I had fun time with Rand in English lessons. He is very kind, sociable and funny, so I was able to talk to him comfortably. He teached me a lot of useful "American" English. Additionally, he gave me not only English but also recommended places and great deals. Thanks to him, I enjoyed learning English.

Rand was exceptionally helpful with my son's college application procedure and ultimate school selection. His expertise and guidance made my son's college search experience much less daunting than it could have been. Rand's approach is all encompassing. He is well versed in the entire process, utilizing lots of college app resources, his terrific writing skills and his funny, warm personality. During his junior year, my son (Scott) and Rand worked closely together to develop an entire strategy which included test prep, application paperwork, and a compelling personal story that would be relevant to each of his college choices. Rand's style also helped to increase Scott's confidence, allowing him to understand that he would be fine at any of the schools he chose. This helped make my life easier as well - that first senior semester is extra stressful for everyone (Scott ultimately was accepted at his first choice, but he really believed any of his choices would have been great too). I would highly recommend Rand, and believe his help could benefit other college bound juniors and seniors.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I like to talk together first, to find out your needs and what type of payment arrangement you are comfortable with, then finding a good solution for your situation.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

First, you and I will either meet or speak on the phone about what you feel you need, what your goal is, ask any questions, and get comfortable with each other. It's important to do this so we both understand exactly what you want and the best way to proceed. Then, we'll work closely together, like a team, to achieve your goals. I look forward to speaking with you about what you need and helping you succeed. Please feel free to email or call any time.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have an Ivy League college and legal education, with over twenty years of business and legal affairs experience. I've learned to use words effectively to help clients, businesses achieve, as well as to create numerous business ventures and writing business proposals, agreements, marketing and PR materials. I ran a large college alumni association for twelve years (including dealing with thousands of people and writing/marketing/publishing all its communications and media), created the "Ivy League Education Bank" tutorial service for underprivileged children, and have mentored/taught hundreds of people, from 12 -52, with their speaking, writings, resumes, college/job applications, emails/papers, proposals, life plans, and strategy for business or activities.
