About
WALDRON GUITAR ACADEMY (WGA) is an outgrowth of the private teaching studio of Brian Waldron, Los Angeles’ top-rated guitar instructor. We are a collective of professional guitarists dedicated to providing the finest educational experience imaginable. 🚀 OUR MISSION 🚀 Our mission is to match highly motivated students with world-class guitar instructors. 💪 WHAT SETS US APART 💪 1. —Our Singular Obsession— Unlike other music schools, at Waldron Guitar Academy we exclusively teach guitar. Rather than recruit other instrumentalists just to fill out our student roster, we’ve devoted 100% of our resources to providing the finest guitar learning experience imaginable. 2. —Our Commitment to Your Progress— Improvement on any instrument requires efficient, goal-oriented practice. While that might make sense in concept, as a guitar student it can be hard to know exactly what ‘effective’ practice looks and feels like. Our job is to take out the guesswork. After each lesson, you’ll receive a detailed email from your instructor with bite-sized goals you can reasonably expect to achieve before your next meeting, along with tips on how to focus your efforts for maximum results 3. —Our Expert Instructors— Our gifted, friendly instructors are hand picked from across the country. In order to be considered, each instructor must exhibit: ✔️ Mastery of their instrument ✔️ Expertise in a particular genre (classical, fingerstyle, jazz, blues, country, metal). ✔️ Extensive teaching experience (10 years minimum) ✔️ A passion for working with students of all abilities, including total beginners. 4. —Our ‘It Takes A Village’ Approach— When you enroll at Waldron Guitar Academy you’ll have access to decades of wisdom from some of the nation's finest guitar instructors. While you’ll always have a primary instructor you see each week, it’s not uncommon for students to take one-off lessons from other teachers who may specialize in an area their primary teacher does not. Are you a classical guitarist who wants to learn a face-melting metal solo? Or vice versa? We’ve got you covered. Ready to get started? Here’s what to do… **NEXT STEPS** 1️⃣ Reach out via Thumbtack (that’s the website/app you’re on now, if you didn’t know). 2️⃣ Once you reach out, you will receive a text to the phone number you provided. You will also receive a message via Thumbtack. 3️⃣ These messages will usually arrive within 60sec. They are fast, but they are not automated, we promise. There’s a real person on the other end awaiting your response. 4️⃣ You will hear from either Brian Waldron (owner & head instructor) or from Marie (our administrator). 5️⃣ From there, you will set up a time for a phone call with Brian Waldron. We look forward to hearing from you!

I started with WGA Online Guitar Academy almost 3 months ago and have thoroughly enjoyed being a student with them. Brian contacted me almost immediately after I showed interest in guitar lessons and got me setup with one of the teachers, Jared. I had a trial lesson with Jared to make sure we were a good fit for future lessons, which I appreciated a lot. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and teaches new concepts in bite sized portions. I’ve been trying to learn the guitar for about 4 years now, on and off with self teaching and even other online teachers, and haven’t seen as much progress as I have since starting with WGA. I highly recommend them if you’re ready to take learning the guitar seriously! :)

WGA has been awesome so far! Going with an academy over an individual instructor I was a little worried that I would just be treated as "one of many" students but that is NOT the case whatsoever, it was the exact opposite in fact. Brian Waldron himself called me the same day I sent the request (on a Sunday no less) and spoke with me for a good 30 minutes on what my goals were, where I was currently at skill-wise, and helped me decide on the specific instructor. Then he called after my first lesson just to make sure I was vibing well with the instructor. Waldron Guitar Academy knows how to treat its students. I went with Jared Sachs as my instructor and he's been great! You really can't go wrong picking any of the instructors though because one of the prerequisite requirements to work as an instructor for WGA is 10 years of TEACHING experience. Not just playing experience- each instructor has, at minimum, a decade of teaching now that's an impressive group of instructors! Oh! and then at the end of every lesson your instructor send you an email that has a recap of everything you went over, AND they send you the Zoom recording of your lesson so you review it as many times as you want. I rarely write reviews, but I had to for Waldron Guitar Academy

Our son wanted lessons specifically in the areas of classic rock and heavy metal, which we could not find locally. Brian made the consultation process individualized to our son’s interests and skill level and connected us to Ryan who makes lessons fun, but also professional and structured. Both Brian and Ryan make the online setting very easy for our son, which is important to note as he was initially worried about not learning in-person. The Zoom lessons have been excellent!

Brian is such a great teacher and meets you right where you are as far as skill level and knowledge (or lack of both!). I need help on technique because I self-taught a little and picked up bad habits. Brian is helping me grab the chords the correct way and focus on the fundamentals. He sticks with you with such a great attitude and I feel like the lessons are tailor made for me every week. He never makes you feel rushed and really thinks through what is best for you. Super talented, great teacher. Don't be afraid of Zoom - try him out!
