We've structured Learning Period to function more as a team than a giant corporation. We truly get to know our customers in order to provide an optimal learning experience that is both flexible and effective. Our ability to pair students with a tutor that is available when they are is just the beginning. For our K-12 students, our aim is to forge bonds. Our tutors are assigned the same tutors for the semester, in order to foster a sense of trust, continuity, and rapport.
Our adult students are not treated any differently! Regardless of age, we strive to provide a concierge-like atmosphere because we know it's truly about the customer's experience; there are plenty of options when it comes to selecting the right private tutor.
The greatest thing about being in education is knowing that we've made a difference in both the long term, as well as short-term. I decided to go back to college for a Masters. I haven't taken a math class in over 10 years. Not only was Addy able to teach me math fundamentals, but she was also able to catch me up with the rest of the class and teach me methods to make sure that I kept up with the class.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our work starts as soon as you call us. We take the initial phone call seriously, as it really helps in the decision to match a particular tutor to your student. In general, we make sure to select a tutor whose tutoring style is a match, rather than go strictly by that tutor's resume.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Learning Period favors hiring fully-credentialed teachers with anywhere from 3 to 5 years of verifiable classroom experience.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Test Prep services are the most requested - Learning Period tutoring improves students' grades in core classes, as well as provides instruction for high-stakes college admissions tests. In addition, we've worked with all grades (Kindergarten to 12th, undergraduate students, graduate students...) and all educational situations: last-minute test prep, home schooled actors and athletes, adult students going back to school, and of course, traditional k-12 students.
