Introduction

My work stands out from others because I go above and beyond just a simple tutoring session. In the beginning of every session I give a short quiz to measure the students progress, which will be reported to the student and/or the parents if so desired. (On the first session, I give a quiz to measure basic knowledge of the subject and to try and find out where the student needs improvement. In addition to this quiz, a short survey is given to pinpoint the student's unique learning style). I will also email, if desired, any extra problems, notes, websites, that I feel would help the student succeed in their academics. The thing I like the most about my job is being able to help the student learn complex concepts, which they thought they would never be able to understand, and applying them to all subsequent problems they encounter. It feels amazing when, after a tutoring session, a student not only understands these complex concepts, but is able to apply them to solve all kinds of problems. This way the student is not dependent on the tutor to help them in every single problem, but is able to carefully analyze the problem and apply the concept(s) they have learned to solve it. In the end that is what tutoring is truly about.

Your creative teaching/tutoring techniques were marvelous for a young boy that was hesitant to fully embrace his strength in math. Enrique has been working with my 11 year old son since July 2013. My son had fallen behind 2 grade levels in math. He hated math, and he was failing. We needed help. Enrique was the answer to our math problem. My son is now getting A's in math. He's working at his grade level AND he now likes math. I have recommended Enrique to several of my friends and family. Enrique is a great tutor, he is patient, and as my son says "Enrique explains it till I get it, he explains it a different way if I don't get it". College Algebra Great tutor. Clear explanations on any problem I had. Very helpful and works around your schedule. I have passed my test with great scores thanks to him. If you want to successfully pass your math class then he is the tutor for you.

Do your student a favor - hire Enrique! My 5th grader fell behind in math due to the prolonged health issues. He hated math with passion - state test grade 36 out of 100. Less than 2 months with Enrique (twice a week) and he got 92 out of 100! Enrique just got a gift of breaking math concepts down into simple, clear building blocks of a math foundation, not to mention translating the insanity of Common Core and Engage New York (another soul crasher from Common Core madness)

How did you get started doing this type of work?
Well, it was the Fall semester and I was taking a Biology course in community college. A couple of other students and I had a small study group, which met every week. Usually, the other students would ask me for help and I would gladly help them. I found that I loved helping them out and seeing them improve their test scores, and more importantly their understanding of the subject. Eventually, I asked myself, "Why don't I do this as a job?". I applied at the Learning Center in my school and was hired. Since then I have been tutoring students and have enjoyed every minute of it.
What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common types of jobs I get are middle school, high school, and community college students that are struggling in Algebra 1 & 2, Trigonometry, and Chemistry.
