FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Absolutely. The research behind learning and memory is constantly evolving, and the science behind how we communicate mathematically is only recently being laid out. A good example is here: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/21/science/21memory.html
- What types of customers have you worked with?
AP test prep, GRE test prep, helping students through "bad teacher syndrome," helping students catch up missed material, coaching adult students after a long layoff from math, providing supplementary instruction for a rapid college class
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
If they ask you to commit to a tutoring package, go elsewhere. Take advantage of free consultations or trial sessions, and make sure your son or daughter is candid with whether they like the tutor - this makes a huge difference. Make sure that your tutor is qualified in the specific academic area that you need.
