About
**I am certified by the National Tutoring Association (NTA) as an ADVANCED LEVEL PROFESSIONAL TUTOR. The NTA is the oldest and largest professional association devoted to tutors, and their certification requires hours of workshops, seminars, and tests, as well as a background check. It is an honor to have my tutoring skills and ability recognized by that organization.** I specialize in tutoring middle school, high school, and undergraduate mathematics (see the list below for a few examples). I tutor in person and virtually. When virtual, I use professional drawing and graphing software to help illustrate mathematical concepts, which past students have found helpful. The standard session's length is one hour. I work with students 1-on-1 to personalize the learning experience. As a result, each student's curriculum is entirely personalized to the student’s needs and weaknesses in the subject matter. I have a breadth of material I draw from including many textbooks and worksheets when determining assignments. Because I teach toward learning the subject, and not just teaching toward superficial test-taking methods, students who work with me develop a deeper understanding of mathematics as well as logic, critical analysis, and thinking skills which they can then use and apply in future classes as well as in living life in general in the 21st century. In other words, I believe in encouraging students to develop a "growth mindset," and I help students to better understand how to learn and think critically about new subjects and information, regardless of how intimidating or obtuse the topic may at first seem to be—i.e. what most math students will feel encountering at least one topic in school. I tutor a wide range of math topics ranging from middle school to college level mathematics including, but not limited to (including honors classes on these subjects): -Geometry -Algebra 1 & Algebra 2 -Precalculus and Trigonometry -Calculus (including AB and BC AP levels) -Multivariable Calculus (“Calc 3”) -Intro to Linear Algebra -Intro to Logic and Proof Writing Please inquire about any other specific math topic if you are unsure I cover it. I have been tutoring since 2019 and now have decided to expand my business by listing it here on Thumbtack, and I am very excited to be able to work with you!

I had this last minute college algebra class for the winter. Although it’s been 6 years since I’ve done any math, Zaman was very responsive and answered all doubts that I had. I especially loved his character and his approach on math. Initially I just wanted to pass that class- quoting “C’s get degrees”. However, he built this confidence in me, removing all my worries and building my knowledge, passing my class with a 90%. Since I have a forever changing work schedule, Zaman was very open to work around my schedule, which was very helpful for me. When it came to tutoring, Mr. Zaman showed me different ways to answer one thing. For example, I got introduced to “common base” much earlier than my classmates; giving me a sense of understanding prior to the online lectures. And once again, all my questions were answered properly, to the point where I even got ahead of myself, going back in my classes. I really did enjoy our conversation and turuoing session.

I truly wish I could pick all 5. Eric was referred to me by happened chance. I helped some elderly ladies one afternoon and one of them said, if there is anything we can ever do to repay you, just let us know. So I decided to reply "well if by chance you know a math tutor for my 18 year old grandson, he wants to join the military but needs help in Math to pass his GED." Their eyes lit up! The ladies I helped out of a random act of kindness turned out to be Eric's family members. Needless to say, my grandson far exceeded any goal he thought he was capable of attaining. His tutoring with Eric will continue when he reaches AIT when permissible and will continue as he enters into the military college program. Eric was not only my grandson's tutor, he was his guiding light and mentor! This Grandma could never express the amount of gratitude I have for him. See folks, prayers are answered if you are just kind to others.

Eric Zaman has been the math tutor for our son Yaremy Stasiuk for more than a year. Our son started taking tutoring classes to improve his math skills and understanding the subject. As soon as Eric became our son’s tutor, math became Yaremy’s favorite discipline at school. Eric is not only a very scrupulous, competent, skilled and diligent teacher, but also has a wonderful personality that enables him to come up with original ways to make his students feel comfortable and curious about math. Our son’s grades are undeniable evidence of Eric’s excellent tutoring skills. Eric is also aware of how critical it is to inform parents on the progress made during sessions and agenda of future classes. He keeps us informed about the covered subjects and those to come. Eric responds to any questions or suggestions we might have. To reinforce my overall assessment of Eric’s professionalism towards tutoring, I will mention that our son decided to continue taking math sessions over the summer break. I always give Eric my highest recommendations to all my friends or parents who are looking for a math tutor.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

The exact amount is dependent on the specific math subject and the number of days being paid for in advance. I provide discounted rates when a client purchases a "bundle" fee for multiple sessions at once. In person sessions could cost more, depending on my travel distance. My fee includes the student's ability to email me questions about the topics discussed in the session for no extra cost.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

It is important to me to first talk with the client so we can understand the client's goals as well as decide on a reasonable time frame in which to expect the desired results. This is done through a virtual meeting or phone call between the parent and/or student and myself (at no cost to the client).

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, graduating magna cum laude. I am also certified by the National Tutoring Association (NTA) as an advanced level professional tutor. The NTA is the oldest and largest professional association devoted to tutors, and their certification requires hours of workshops, seminars, and tests, as well as a background check.
