Dain Blanton came to our east coast high school to speak with our freshmen class as well as our upper classmen. Dain was very adaptable to our schedule and took the opportunity to meet with individual classes of students as well as give two "top notch" presentations. He spent time in the evening with our students playing volleyball and allowing for photo opportunities at all times. Dain exemplifies professionalism both in his interaction with students, staff and school and district administration. He used his life experiences to motivate our students to excel inside and outside of the classroom. His interest and enthusiasm in their personal goals was evident as he spoke with them. Dain worked to accommodate everything we asked of him and more. His visit and discussions were a direct correlation with our school's growth mindset model and our journey to establishing a culture of student efficacy.

It is with great enthusiasm that I recommend Dain Blanton as a guest speaker. Dain speaks from the heart about how preparation for opportunities will lead to success. Dain's visit to our high school last year was a highlight of the year, raising spirits and laying a foundation for students to emulate his formula for success. Dain's road to success as a breakthrough athlete in the Olympic sport of beach volleyball and his post-Olympic career in broadcasting provide a fascinating success story that students can identify with. Dain connects with his audience in an authentic manner. He helps students to see the importance of working hard in pursuit of their goals and dreams. In closing, I believe that Dain is an especially unique individual who stands for getting to success the old-school way- earning it. He will light-up the halls of your school with a positive and infectious energy that validates the proposition that success lies in the hands of the prepared.

It was with great pleasure that Lake Forest High School, located in Felton, Delaware, was able to have Dan Blanton visit with us for two days. Dain visited with all 15 of our Freshman Seminar classes on Tuesday, November 13. He brought his inspiring message directly to our students, much to their delight. Our work with the Career Choices curriculum, in conjunction with our monthly advisory meetings (small group advisement meetings with teachers following a specific lesson plan) reinforces the importance of setting goals, working hard, periodic revision of goals, and having a plan in the face of adversity. Dain’s message hit to the core of our Growth Mindset culture. Tuesday evening, Dain addressed a large group of parents, teachers, and students about the importance of hard work and determination. He worked with our volleyball team and over 100 students in a volleyball tournament. A great time was had by all. The following day, he conducted two assemblies (one specifically for Freshmen, the second for Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors). His message of the importance of having a vision, combining it with energy and perseverance, and the resulting success struck a chord with our students and staff. Throughout his visit, the Gold Medal made its rounds to eager hands for a photo and a chance to touch history. Dain Blanton’s visit will remain the highlight of the 2012-2013 school year for Lake Forest High School.

Dain Blanton is a class-act role model for students! His down-to-earth presentation for our school assembly included engaging students while speaking about the importance of education, and giving real-life examples for aiming for success. Dain also shared an awareness of students' resources as support to deal with life's difficulties and challenges. Dain was personable with students and staff! He was professional in fulfilling his contract and giving personal attention in responding to calls or questions. His dialogue in the assembly, his demeanor in relating to students, and his exciting visual experiences made an indelible impression on our students. Meeting Dain was an incredible experience for all of us!
