Eric is one of the best teachers I’ve had. He is personable, knowledgable and easy to learn from. We typically hold two saxophone lessons per week, one set around theory and scales and the other, around songs of my choice or new music that he introduces me to. His approach to music has made me excited and passionate about playing every day! Eric is kind and patient and works off of my personal strengths and weaknesses. After 6 months of lessons, I was able to play basic tunes and improvise to songs of my choice. I highly recommend him!!Oct 8, 2019

Eric’s a great dude and a great teacher, really knowledgeable, especially with jazz vocabulary and soul/funk horn lines. Highly recommendedOct 1, 2019
Eric was my daughter, Shawnie's, private instructor for alto saxophone while he was located in Reno, NV. Shawnie learned so much from Eric and has blossomed into a truly accomplished jazz musician under his direction. Eric was super flexible and accommodating to the schedule of a high school musician and athlete. I highly recommend Eric as a private instructor. -Janelle Thomas Reno, NVNov 16, 2019
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I will start by asking a few questions about the students musical experiences, how long they’ve been playing, what musically interests them. From there I’ll listen to the student play, and find a good starting point to create goals or tasks. I strive to find a balance between the students musical interests and what I feel are important aspects of playing that need attention.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a bachelor of music in jazz performance from University of Oregon, as well as a master in music degree from University of Nevada Reno. I have been playing and studying Saxophone for 17 years, and teaching full time for 5 years.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?My teachers and mentors meant a lot to me growing up, so I began teaching as a way to give back. I love seeing students grow musically and overcome challenges.
