Lizzy and Cindy were both an incredible help when it came to writing my Statement of Purpose for Graduate School. I'm now extremely confident with the product I was able to create with their help.Mar 3, 2018VerifiedCynthia G.'s reply
Nate, thank you for the review and allowing us to be a part of your journey!
Cindy was incredibly helpful with finding the right Chemistry tutor, Riley, for my daughter, literally a day before a big test came up, and she passed the test with flying colors. Cindy is very kind and caring, and is passionate about her job- she understands that hiring a tutor with just a great bio does not necessarily mean they can teach, as has been our experience. She made sure Riley was the right match for my daughter. I strongly recommend contacting Cindy for any tutoring needs- we are already seeing the results in just days of meeting her.Feb 7, 2018VerifiedCynthia G.'s reply
Aviva, thank you for the wonderful review! Looking beyond credentials is important when researching a tutor, and I'm so glad to hear Riley is making a meaningful impact in your daughter's studies.
I have already had both of my girls meet with Cindy Chanin. Lovely woman with an immense amount of experience and knowledge with anything academic or for career selection. Really love her holistic approach to helping my girls learn new ways of dealing with their challenges with certain classes and also figuring out what their passions in life may be. Still in the beginning stages of working with Cindy, but so far I am really impressed and excited about what she will do for my girls.Jan 16, 2017VerifiedCynthia G.'s reply
Linda, thank you for your review! It has been such a delight getting to know your girls and work alongside them on some amazing projects this past year!
I went to their office last week to get help on preparing for an exam. However, the experience was terrible. We scheduled a meeting at 10 a.m. but their "expert" showed up late. Even worse, she was not well prepared for the session and could not provide much advice. As well, I think they are overpriced by charging customers $175/hr (and up) while their services do not worth it.Mar 17, 2016VerifiedCynthia G.'s reply
Were sorry that Jiayi had a less-than-stellar experience with Rainbow Tutoring. Communication is key when asking for help from someone, and Jiayi wanted help writing an essay for a Harvey-Mudd transfer application, which is a considerably different process than exam preparation. We have worked with many international students and have a strong track record in this area, having helped many students gain admissions to their top, optimally-fitting schools. The educator who worked with Jiayi has successfully helped many students write beautiful and effective college essays. In addition to the initial miscommunication, Jiayis ability to communicate verbally in English was severely limited, so the process was quite painstaking. Perhaps a translator could have made all the difference in the outcome of the session.

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? We have two fee schedules. The first details prices for work with the majority of our educators, and the other details prices for work with myself, the Director, and a few of our Senior Consultants. While we do offer hourly rates, most of our customers who work with us for multiple sessions choose to purchase a value package, which offers a substantial savings. Please inquire for more information!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? Before we start working with a student(s), we like to get a sense of their educational background, their interests, and their goals. We really like to get to know them -- where they've struggled, where they thrive, and what they value. Using this information, we design a unique plan-of-action, which is designed to be most effective for them as an individual. Next, we match them with one of our educators. This process ensures that each student works with a great educator and mentor, not just another tutor.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have personally experienced virtually every possible educational environment. I went to private school, performing arts school, Jesuit school, a Jewish day school, a cutthroat public high school, and an Ivy League University. While working toward multiple degrees at Yale University and the University of Southern California (USC), I studied psychology, theater, mathematics, and comparative literature. I am Phi Beta Kappa as well as an Irlen Syndrome certified screener for students who have learning differences, visual processing, and/or ADD. I also worked in admissions at both Yale and USC.
