Hi Fellow VO Friends! I have been a pro VO actor since I was 16. I am a classically trained (Uta Hagen) professional actor (TV, Film, Theater) and pro voiceover actor for over 30 years. I have seen many changes in the VO Industry in the last 30 years here in LA. My career and my acting training now speak directly to the style and needs of the industry in Commercial, Animation and Narration VO. No more "sell", no more "announcing". The preference in almost all VO is Conversational, Real and Authentic - definitely for Commercial VO and even in many animated series and video games. Because the style of voiceover is naturalistic, having real acting chops as a VO artist is imperative to land gigs. Jeannie is a big dose of encouragement and a little dose of tough love when it comes to learning acting. And we all know with crazy big dreams we need that! Jeannie works with me over the phone and in-person on my voice acting, scene study and demos. One of the best gifts she gave me was how to take direction and use a conversational tone. Jeannies talent as an actress and casting director is always spot on. Thank you Jeannie!

Jeannie is an amazing human and probably one of the best acting coaches I've worked with in my 20 years voice acting. She's an incredible actress (her IMDB page speaks for itself) and she's the real deal when it comes to teaching. She's also really well connected (she often directs and is also a casting director) so she knows what's hot, what's not and most importantly, how to teach the good stuff. You will not regret working with her. She's a fun little ball of energy and one of my favorite people in the business. The animation demo she made for me over 10 years still gets me work to this day. She's brilliant!

Jeannie is a consummate professional. So great to study with an instructor who has a successful VO career. The one-to-one instruction was ideal for me. From the moment we started working I knew I was in great hands -- Jeannie is clearly an expert. Love the tool set for reviewing the material, defining the steps for the best way to approach the copy, and executing to bring it to life. Jeannie has extensive experience across all different VO mediums (e.g. commercials, animation and video games.) and as a working talent and casting director she's really in the know about where the marketplace is and what clients are looking for. I found Jeannie's feedback most helpful in driving me to make the strongest choices, especially when it comes to communicating real and authentic (non-announcer-y) delivery of the copy. Jeannie Elias will forever be who I have fondly come to call my "VO Fairy Godmother"! She was vital and essential in the creation of my now ongoing Voice Over career.
Jeannie was my coach and mentor for several years as I dared to wade into the waters of the VO world. One thing that is immediately obvious about Jeannie is her highly refined ability to act, communicate, and connect... both with herself, and anybody else. These qualities are what helped create the safety within myself for her to access and derive from me what was necessary to grow, evolve, and thrive as a Voice Over Artist.
My first three professional demos were coached and produced by Jeannie... Commercial, Commercial Character, and Animation.
I have often referred to Jeannie as "World Class" and expressed how fortunate I was to have met her and to have had her influence as a coach. Her coaching technique has always been consistent... whether in large workshops, small groups, or one-on-one. Most of our one-on-one sessions were done remotely via phone patch or Skype, to great effect. The job of the Voice Actor is to create the world, character, or message they are representing with their voice, but originating from within their authentic self and truth. Remote coaching allows the learner to have the safety, security, and privacy necessary to learn, but with NO sacrifice to the level and quality of instruction. I had no prior professional experience in acting before I started taking classes with Jeannie, and yet Jeannie was patient with me and carefully guided me as to how to be a modern voice actor. Learning the conversational style from her was different than the announcer style voice I'd always thought a voice actor would have, but I find that acting in a more conversational way fits a lot better with who I am, and I like it a whole lot. More than anything else, though, taking classes with Jeannie is fun, and I love coming to class to work with her!
