I needed a copy editor for the first draft of an 84,000 word novel manuscript, but my demands and expectations were high. I felt I needed a copy editor who not only knew grammar, spelling, and style, but who also could discern the aesthetic of the book and spot glaring errors or inconsistencies in the storyline, even to the point of offering recommendations. What's more, I needed it all done in under a week. Ms. Howe exceeded my expectations -- she did all of this, and more, on a tight schedule, and at an amazingly fair price, given the circumstances I'd imposed. She remained in communication throughout the process, always keeping me updated, and remained available to answer any questions I'd had about her corrections or notes. I can't imagine how I could improve on Monica Howe's copy editing services. My standard rate is $30/hour - but that is negotiable! I want to work with you. Price per page will depend on the type of writing, how much work it needs, and what level of editing you seek or are comfortable with (e.g., are you looking for just bare-bones proofing or a total overhaul? ).
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We can start with a small piece of your project. That way you can get a feel for my work and the cost.
