Introduction: Jamez’ work as a yoga teacher and fitness enthusiast centers around using spiritual tools to tap into one's inner potential. It is his belief that incorporating meditation, pranayama, and asana in daily life will help you, as his student, connect with your truest form, in turn challenging you to become a better version of yourself.
His introduction to yoga was neither at an early age or out of curiosity. He discovered yoga after sustaining a back injury, so he knows all too well how to work his experience from the ground up. His commitment and passion weren’t immediate either. It wasn't until he had an out-of-body experience that led him to understand yoga as far more than just poses: it’s a way of life.
After studying philosophy and biological sciences at the University of Kentucky, Jamez embarked on a journey of self-discovery. Initially, he had the ambition to become a medical doctor. He was even published for his research in the national library of medicine. In the end, he decided that a life advocating for wellness in another way would be more fulfilling.
His dedication to his yoga practice led him to Bali, Indonesia, where he did his 200-hour YTT at Sadhana Yoga School. It was at the Sadhana Yoga School that he learned the ashtanga yoga traditions. Now, as a teacher, it is his mission to build a more inclusive wellness community, creating unique experiences that help people access their deepest layers, and providing non-judgemental environments for individuals to express themselves.
His classes incorporate elements of ashtanga yoga to culminating in sequences that are challenging, engaging and energetic. His style is a power vinyasa flow that builds core strength, flexibility, balance and fully tones the body. Music is also an essential part of his classes. He loves to build the flow around R&B, hip-hop, deep house, and Tibetan sounds. Each of his classes provides elements of aromatherapy, meditation and asana.
"Yoga is one of the best ways to give yourself love. Every single person on the planet can benefit from becoming mindful through a yoga practice. Just imagine how happy and whole your future self will be for taking a few moments each day to connect on the mat. Yoga is love."
