Hi there! Currently I am offering remote drum lessons to all areas, as well as in person lessons for those located in Contra Costa County. I have been teaching the drums and other percussion instruments for the last 4 years, as it's my passion to inspire and motivate my students, and to give them the tools they need to better themselves.
My teaching style aims to respect the great drummers that came before, as I draw on the techniques that they used to develop coordination, dynamic control and unique creative ability on the kit. I seek to teach in a way that respects our individual differences, so that I will be able to provide lessons that best fit your needs. Through my own development as a drummer, I have learned the importance of the mind-body connection, as I aim to make my students more aware of the many motions of drumming, which are not commonly brought into focus. Strengthening this mind-body connection on the drums helps to create a more individualized expression on the instrument, so that you can play the things that you want to play, and with more ease and relaxation. Nick is a great drum Instructor! He is patient and makes the lessons interesting and fun for my 7 year old daughter. I wasn't sure if musical instruction would work remotely especially for a 7 year old but Nick really makes it feel like he's right there and my daughter is engaged the whole time. He customizes the lessons based on my daughter's interests. My daughter never wants to miss a lesson and she is really proud of the progress she is making and the new techniques she learns. Nick breaks down complicated beats into segments that my daughter can understand and practice. He encourages my daughter to try things on her own, make up her own drumming patterns, and then he ties it in with patterns and techniques he wants her to learn. We are so happy with the progress our daughter is making and how much she enjoys playing the drums. Thanks Nick!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge 60$ for an hour lesson, 40$ for a 45 minute one and 30$ for the half hour.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My typical process is to first get a general idea of what the student already knows and what the student could improve on. After, I would inquire on what the student would like to learn and work on, and what goals the student would like to achieve through taking lessons with me. Lastly, I would create a plan and implement a routine that would allow the student to achieve those goals through diligent work and practice.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taken lessons for 12 years and I am currently studying under a long time professional drummer at Sonoma State University.
