About
Many DJs have an assembly line type way of operating events, which is fine... but it's not exciting! I like to get to know the people I'm playing for cater my selections to their preferences. I try to bring the same energy and enthusiasm to each event! Seeing joy on people's faces when I play a new song or a remix of a favorite that they've never heard before. I get to make people feel at ease, music helps break the ice like nothing else!

DJ Jeffty is AMAZING! He is so versatile and totally understood the vibe I was going for. When I told him a little bit about the crowd I was expecting, he threw out a few artists and song choices that totally nailed it! He has his finger on the pulse of what people want to hear. I was a bit worried when the guestlist turned out to be much smaller than I originally planned for. I was afraid the room would feel empty and nobody would dance. Not with DJ Jeffty around! After the first hour, a friend said, "he better be careful, he's playing all the good stuff already." That just goes to show that this guy can throw a party because he had us all dancing until we got kicked out of the venue! He was there to set up super early and played some tunes for us while we were getting the room and ourselves ready. He also totally played with the crowd and listened to requests. He's playful, easy going and super professional! I've forwarded his info to just about everyone I know! Thanks again!

We worked with DJ Jeffty for our wedding, and the services he provided were awesome! Everyone loved the music during the cocktail hour, dinner and the dance floor was quite active, despite our expectation that our geeky crowd weren't really the dancing type. I think our venue was fun but a bit of a challenge, as our wedding was at the Lawrence Hall of Science in Berkeley, a big cement building on a hillside, which could have bad acoustics and conditions for the wireless mics. We did have trouble with the mics working during our ceremony, which was held out on the back deck, and so they ended up not being used. This wasn't something we were prepared for, and I didn't really know until well after the ceremony that a number of people didn't hear a word of it. That's a shame, but really the ceremony is a formality, and really the people we were there for were us, our party, and our family up close, who mostly heard. Aside from tests in the venue in similar conditions, I don't know that this could have been perceived beforehand. I do think that it would have only been a minor inconvenience to bring in a standing mic to accommodate, since our officiant had no idea there was a problem, and being hard of seeing she had her binder/script in front of her face to read it a number of times during the ceremony. Overall, it's a small thing I thing in the overall scheme of what the wedding was about, and I'd only knock DJ Jeffty a half-star for the mic issue if I could... =/ Aside from the mic issue, working with DJ Jeffty was great, even though we loaded a bunch of work and changes onto him in the last few days (including editing songs to cut out dialogue and transitions, as well as working with one of our singers to find karaoke tracks in a key they're comfortable with) before the wedding, he took the notes and everything was wonderful. Thank you DJ Jeffty!

DJ Jeffty provided music for my daughter's Sweet Sixteen and I couldn't have been any happier with his work. He had everyone dancing and enjoying themselves for over 6 hours. If you are looking for a DJ this is the one for you. He not only knows what he is doing but he is just a great person who listens to what you want and delivers. I highly recommend him to anyone. Thank you again DJ Jeffty. You will be hearing from us again for any event we may have. :)

Jeff is fantastic! I hired him for my son's Bar Mitzvah celebration. He was professional, fun and totally engaged. My son and I both had the chance to talk to Jeff before the event and let him know our musical preferences. I felt totally comfortable knowing he understood what we wanted. The DJ really sets the tone for the party and Jeff made our party rock not only with the music but with the ambience he created on the dance floor with his laser lighting and fog machine. It's not easy to make a 13 year old boy and his mother both happy, but Jeff did it. He's a great DJ and a really, really nice guy. Thank you, Jeff! We'll definitely be hiring you again...

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Once it is established that my services are a good fit for what the client is looking for, I draft a service contract specifying logistical details such as time, place and duration. I also provide a copy of my insurance for my client, or the venue where the event will be held. From there we proceed with song selection details and the overall musical vibe. Client input is important at this stage, but I always leave the doors open for on-the-fly requests.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I actually started by playing live guitar and singing at weddings and events, and since I had a large music library I eventually started playing pre-recorded music as well. Eventually I was able to accumulate the proper equipment and started to practice DJing in 2006, and I've been DJing events ever since!

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Is lighting needed or required for the dance area? Some DJs charge an extra premium to add lights. Is there a certain mood you are aiming for as you plan your event? You want to make sure your DJ is on your side, conveying the atmosphere you want your guests to enjoy. DJing is not as easy as it seems, but at the same time it's WAY more fun than you can imagine.
